While there's no shortage of bad news inundating the news cycle every day, sometimes it's necessary to do what Mister Rogers said and look for the helpers.

One example of humans doing right by other humans took place last week in Georgia after a group of high school football players jumped into action to save a woman after a car wreck.

The football players come from Rome High School.

Six students from Rome High School, who also play for the football team — Cesar Parker, Treyvon Adams, Antwiion Carey, Messiah Daniels, Tyson Brown and Alto Moore — were on their way to school Friday morning when they spotted something unusual.

A car crash had taken place right in front of their school.

Rather than pulling into the school parking lot like they would on any other morning, the six students immediately went to the site of the crash to see if there was any way they could help.

They rescued a woman from a bad situation.

A woman who was involved in the wreck found herself stuck in her still-smoking car. The students used their strength to rip open her mangled car door, allowing her to escape from the wreck.

The whole thing was captured on surveillance video.

Discussing the dramatic scene with local reporters, Tyson Brown — one of the six students — said the only priority was saving the woman.

"We weren't worried about ourselves, we were worried about the lady," Brown said.

In a matter of moments, the woman was freed.

Being trapped in a car after an accident can be bad news. There's the risk of the car catching fire in addition to the smoke and fluids that can pour out of a vehicle after a crash. The quick action of these student athletes helped the woman escape worse injuries.

The students were praised for their efforts.

"The Rome High School football players really showed up today," wrote Rome High School math teacher Luis Goya on Facebook. "They went above and beyond to help."

Goya wasn't the only one who praised the students for their heroism.

The community owes thanks to these young men.

YouTube comments are usually an absolute cesspool of people's worst thoughts, but in this case, the praise was universal. These six students found themselves in the right place at the right time to lend a hand, and they really came through.

The school board congratulated them.

In a post on the Rome City Schools website, Luis Goya described the scene:

"They literally started using their strength to pry the door open, so the lady could be released," he wrote. "After a few seconds of pulling and pushing the door, the boys ended up opening it and helped her get out of the car."

It's good to see them getting the praise they deserve.
