Disgraced actor Armie Hammer is reportedly working as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands a year after disappearing from the public eye in the wake of a scandal that saw him accused of cannibalism fantasies.

Although Hammer entered the 2020s with his acting career on an upward trajectory, that all changed quickly when direct messages that allegedly featured him discussing cannibalism with multiple women were leaked to the public.

This would be the start of a series of serious allegations against the actor and after he saw his career opportunities suddenly dry up as a result, he started to lay low.

However, a chance encounter has revealed that he's since relocated to the Cayman Islands. But some level of mystery appears to remain when it comes to what exactly he's doing there.

In a since-deleted tweet, 'Desus & Mero' producer Muna Mire revealed this flyer suggesting Armie Hammer is working as a concierge at the Morritt's resort in the Cayman Islands.

According to The Los Angeles Times, however, Morritt's director of sales Chris Butcher claimed that this flyer is misleading and Hammer isn't a member of staff, but rather a visitor they used to promote a weekly welcome party.

Butcher also said that Hammer plays golf with one of the resort's employees who invited him to "come see what we do" and shadow staff as they go about their duties.

And while the initial suggestion that Hammer was working there was bolstered by photos that appeared to show him in uniform, Butcher had an answer for that too.

He told the newspaper that Morritt's doesn't have a dress code for its employees and added that a photo appearing to depict Hammer making a deal with a couple from the office was taken during one of his shadowing sessions.

And in case this all sounds like damage control, Butcher went on to say, "If Armie ever wanted a job here, [with] the amount of publicity he’s generated — we’d take him on straight away."

But it seems there's another twist to this story as a report from Variety suggested Hammer has a closer relationship with Morritt's than Butcher led on.

Their updated article on the matter quoted an anonymous source as saying, "He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle. The reality is he’s totally broke, and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family."

This person also claimed that Hammer was previously managing an apartment complex in the islands before taking on this role and spent time in a treatment facility after his career fizzled out.

Although the L.A. Times consulted Hammer's attorney about the veracity of these claims, this person essentially declined to comment because Hammer himself hasn't addressed them.

As for why Hammer is in the Cayman Islands, Variety further reported that he moved there to be with his two young children, who are living with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers.

But while that fact doesn't seem to be in dispute, his status as a timeshare salesman remains shrouded in mystery as the conflicting reports continue to go unresolved.
