When it comes to summer hair trends, it's usually all about the sun-kissed looks. Am I right? Fair enough, after all, we spend a lot of time in the sun, so it does make sense, no?

But what if I told you there is a new beauty trend this year that is very different. And if you're looking to stand out from the crowd, this idea might just be for you. So check it out and let me know what you think.

I'm talking about blackberry hair.

Oh, yes. You heard that right. This new hue is so exciting now, so let me tell you more about it. I think it all started last year when the mulled wine hair was all the rage.

This new trend is a bit similar.

But this time, the color is even more vibrant. Think of that gorgeous blackberry when it gets smashed. You see all those beautiful purple variants everywhere — that's the hue I'm talking about here.

Check this out.

I mean, how gorgeous is this look, huh? I'm pretty much obsessed with it. If only I hadn't just gotten my hair done, I would have considered this lovely hue, that's for sure. It's so vibrant and pretty, no?

I know this might seem unusual for summer.

But I say, why not? There are a few things you need to consider before you take the plunge and go for this bold color. As with any vibrant hue, you need to take care of it well.

So get ready for a little bit of maintenance.

For starters, you need to use a good purple shampoo so your color won't fade. That's elementary, if I say so myself. You wouldn't want that gorgeous color to just go down the drain, right?

Next, you need to protect your hair from the sun.

Oh, yes. That's right. The more you stay in the sun, the more your color will start to fade. So if you really want to keep this hue vibrant all summer long, get yourself a good hat.

I know you might not want to hear that.

But it's true. This type of color takes a little bit more maintenance than those other sun-kissed looks. Heck, if you're going to go for it, you might as well take care of it the right way.

I wish I learned of this trend a while ago.

There was a time when I had red hair, and I did consider going as dark as this. But truth be told, I was hesitant, ha, ha. But now that I see it, I wish I had done it.

So what do you think of this look?

Would you try something like this for the summer? Or would you rather stick to the low-maintenance, sun-kissed look? Hmm, I don't know. I think I would prefer this style for the fall. At least you wouldn't have to worry about shielding it from the sun, huh?
