Over the years, gender reveals have become an extremely popular way to share the joys and journey of having a baby. Many couples plan and prep parties to have with friends and family where they reveal the gender of their baby-to-be.

While it's something that has become common, there are some people who have a lot to say about gender reveals currently in place.

Gender reveals have been around for several years.

Gaining popularity around 2010, gender reveal parties have become synonymous with having a baby. Many couples feel they have to have a gender reveal party to celebrate the joys of having a baby.

They originally started off rather small.

Jenna Karvunidis is one of the moms who started the fad of gender reveal parties, some coining her as the "original" gender reveal mom. Her gender reveal, however, was done through a simple cake with icing and filling.

Now, gender reveals have taken off in other ways.

Simple cakes and cupcakes no longer cut it for many people. Instead, they have gone rather big in the ways they choose to celebrate. Some use fireworks, smoke, balloons, and other ways to showcase their baby-to-be.

Gender reveals can become dangerous, though.

Gender reveals have become something that can become rather dangerous, too. Earlier in 2021, a California father let off a pipe bomb to reveal colored smoke that set off a slew of forest fires across the state. Many have come out in opposition of gender reveals of this nature.

Some also argue that gender reveal parties are pushing gender onto children.

Many also argue that gender is a social construct and that parents should not push gender onto children in such a way. They argue that children should be able to reveal and choose their own gender when they feel they know it.

Despite the opposition to gender reveals, many people still host them.

As many oppose gender reveals, couples still value and appreciate the time spent with family and coming together to celebrate the miracle of life. Many couples find unique and safe ways to reveal their child's gender.

Recently, one couple shared a unique and fun way they decided to host a gender reveal on TikTok.

One couple from Bristol decided to film their gender reveal on TikTok and share it with the world. The video has racked up almost 1 million views in only four days.

The 25-year-old mom seemingly wanted a girl.

In the video, the mom is standing next to her husband, wearing a very pink dress. One can only assume that she was hoping that her baby would be a girl. However, it seems that was not the case.

Standing in front of a concrete pumping truck, the couple had a pipe to reveal their baby's gender.

The pipe let off a sudden burst of water, which at first was clear. However, after a few moments, the water let out a giant gush of water that was bright blue—indicating they are having a boy.

This is something we've definitely never seen before.

We have seen a lot of gender reveal party ideas and some that are super unique. However, using a water pipe to showcase color and gender is something brand new. I wonder how long it will take until others pick up on this idea.

People online were quite divided (saying it made a mess and that it was a waste of water) but others thought it was certainly less destructive than others! To each their own!
