But that's not all. She picked the most unusual "fabric" to work with, and it wasn't fabric at all. Instead, she used hundreds of pages from her beloved Harry Potter books. OMG, what?
This talented lady spent four days working on her fabulous dress. It took countless hours of ripping, folding, sewing, and gluing pages together. She even had to work late into the night to finish this elaborate project.
Hailey made a beautiful strapless, corseted frock that flounced and flared like origami with fan-folded pages from her beloved books. The books mean a lot to Hailey. She says they have inspired her to be the person she is today.
Hailey was going for a Victorian-era-inspired gown, and I think she really accomplished that, huh? It's actually the first time she made something as ambitious as this dress. She wanted the dress to have a certain fantasy element to it.
So she took the inspiration from the Harry Potter books and just ran with it. She was inspired to make the dress after something similar she saw on TikTok but ended up putting her own spin on it.
Hailey's mom Valerie who is a costume maker, was instrumental in helping her daughter craft the perfect dress. She gave her ideas on how to construct the corset and how to make it fit with the rest of the bodice.
She experienced a little bit of that Hermione Granger moment when she showed up at the Yule Ball as heartthrob Victor Krum’s date, and everybody definitely noticed.
I wish I could have been there to witness this special grand entrance, hee-hee. I'm so impressed with this young lady's creativity and imagination. What a unique gown to make, eh?
