A brave bystander lept to action when she realized something was wrong with a fellow driver on the road, running out into the middle of a busy Florida intersection to try and help.

Her action quickly caught others' attention, as people rushed to help the driver who was unconscious at the wheel due to a medical episode. Together, these courageous people were able to direct her to safety and make sure she got the medical attention she needed.

A valiant citizen rescue was performed in Florida recently.

The Boynton Beach Police Department posted an amazing video captured by street cameras surveying a busy intersection. What looks to be a normal light change quickly escalates when one woman runs out into the middle of the road to try and stop a car.

She waves her arms wildly to get others to stop.

She then walks alongside the rolling car, which appeared to be making a left turn at first, but then continued moving through the intersection. She bangs on the window while also directing cars to move out of its path.

Others make way before jumping out to join her.

Together, about six people successfully stop the car from moving. A few more gather, one trying to punch out one of the windows, until the woman in green leaves to grab a dumbbell from her car which is used to shatter the back window.

Someone then climbs in through that window and unlocks the car.

From there, the bystanders begin attending to the driver, who appeared to suffer some sort of medical episode which caused her to stop operating the car and roll right through the intersection.

This goes on for about a minute.

They're then seen maneuvering the car out of frame, presumably out of traffic.

The video ends with a title card from the police department saying they want to honor the people who helped, putting out a call for aid in identifying them.

And that call worked!

In a reply to the original video, BBPD said they've been able to contact several of the people involved already, hoping to get them all together with the woman they helped save.

The internet was stunned and inspired by these bystanders, namely the first woman, who saw something wrong and didn't hesitate to jump into action.

Twitter was full of praise.

Another person wrote, "This is the kind of news we need to see more often. There are good people in this world. The first woman who ran across the street to try to stop a car all by herself is a hero. Bless all those who helped."

Turns out, that first woman was a coworker of the driver.

The driver has since spoken up about the event, sharing how incredibly grateful she was for the help she received. "Thank you so much. I don’t know how to thank you," she told CBS12 News, "I wish I was a millionaire, so I could buy y’all a boat."

She is safe thanks to the brave actions of some truly standup citizens, and she says she hopes that act of kindness will "inspire others to help one another."
