Brendan Fraser Post Goes Viral After Hotel Accommodates Fan Request

Fandoms can be a funny and fickle thing. They have the power to relaunch franchises, revive characters who were long thought dead, and restore deserved glory to once-iconic movie stars.

Recently, fans began to notice that Brendan Fraser was trending on Twitter. After a little research and investigation, it turns out that it was all because of one Brendan Fraser superfan and a fairly odd hotel request.

Back in the '90s, Brendan Fraser was one of the most popular and sought-after leading men in Hollywood.

Brendan's big break came in 1992 after he was cast to star in Encino Man, opposite the then-wildly popular comedian, Pauly Shore.

From that point on, Brendan's career began to take off.

From 1992 until the end of the decade, Brendan starred in hit film after hit film. He stole our hearts as Adam Webber in Blast from the Past and thrilled audiences beyond belief in The Mummy.

But with the dawn of the new millennium, fans began seeing less and less of Brendan.

Years' worth of performing incredibly physical stunts had begun to take their toll on Brendan's once-hulking frame. His body broke down, his marriage fell apart, and he fell into a deep depression.

Then in 2016, after years of being relegated to the fringe of celebrity, Brendan began to claw his way back.

After seeing Brendan in The Affair, fans began to realize what they were missing. And in 2018 after Brendan was cast as Cliff Steele in Titans — they fell in love with him all over again.

Nowadays, Brendan's career is flourishing once again. He's back on his feet and ready to take on the world.

So too are his fans, as it would appear. And as far as fandoms go, they don't get any more serious than Brendan Fraser's.

Recently, one Fraser fan, in particular, has gone viral after a positively delightful Twitter post.

For some context, this Fraser fan begins by explaining how whenever they stay overnight in a hotel, they always make the same special request.

"For years I have been booking hotels with the 'extra note/request' option filled in of 'Please put a picture of Brendan Fraser from the 1999 movie 'The Mummy' in the room.'"

After years of disappointment, the Hilton DoubleTree in Phoenix, AZ, finally stepped up to the plate and made their wish come true.

Not only that, but the Hilton DoubleTree also saw fit to respond to the post on Twitter.

"We are so glad our team could help make your dream come true," the reply from DoubleTreet Hilton's official Twitter account read.

This is far from the first time that Brendan Fraser has trended on Twitter for literally no reason at all.

At roughly this exact time last year, an army of Brendan's fans began madly tweeting about him for no other reason other than the fact that he is awesome.

Some of the posts were hotly debated.

This is a spicy take, but I have to say that I'm inclined to agree. It goes without saying that if a 5000-year-old mummy started chasing me, I wouldn't be calling Leo to come and save me.

While others chose to ruminate on the rarity of trending on Twitter for positive reasons.

"Like, I'm imagining Brendan Fraser's publicist calling him like "You're trending on Twitter" and him going "Oh god, what did I do" and she says "Um...you're trending because everyone loves you" and I hope that gives him a warm fuzzy feeling." - Twitter @madlori
