Dogs are renowned as loyal and constant companions, but how constant should they be? A full-on canine brawl inside a Home Depot was captured on video and has since gone viral.
Video of the incident, posted on TikTok, has received millions of views and thousands of comments, igniting a fierce debate on whether dogs should be allowed in stores at all.
Lots of stores allow dogs — regular pet dogs, not service dogs — inside with their owners. While dogs can usually get along with stranger dogs, there are times when things get aggressive and a fight breaks out.
The very appropriately-named @wtfisthis211 TikTok account posted this video of a dog fight that broke out inside a Home Depot. The video starts midway through the incident, but captures the aftermath.
The fight, between a larger dog that seems to be on a leash, and a smaller dog that's off-leash, was eventually broken up thanks to the intervention of a crowd of shoppers and employees.
Once the two mutts are separated, two women, who seem to own the smaller dog, pick it up and remove it from the conflict. One of the women asks for the other dog's name and asks someone to call the police.
The caption states that the women are angry simply because their dog "lost" the fight. There isn't enough evidence in the video to support this, but the women are certainly distraught. They pick up the dog's leash and the dog and hurry out of the store.
Again, we're talking about pet dogs, not service dogs here. Service dogs are highly trained and don't cause trouble and need access to anywhere their human might go. Pet dogs, though, are another story.
While taking your doggo on a stroll through Home Depot is a nice thought, what would you do if it encountered an aggressive off-leash dog? Things might go smoothly most of the time, but the TikTok video demonstrates what can happen when things go wrong.
Also, shouldn't all dogs be leashed inside stores?
