Broaching the subject of prenuptial agreements is never easy. Most people tend to get rubbed the wrong way when their partner suggests that they plan for the marriage's demise before it's even begun.

The fact of the matter is that nearly half of all marriages in North America end in divorce, yet in spite of these insurmountable odds, there are still those willing to roll the dice and let the chips fall where they may. With that said, take a look below at these celebrity couples who decided to forgo the prenup.

Ashton and Demi went through a very public and messy divorce. The former member of the Brat-Pack attempted to get spousal support, but her claims were denied. In the end, they wound up splitting everything they'd acquired in marriage down the middle.

Gwen and Gavin were married for 13 years, and as such, Gavin was entitled to 50% of everything Gwen made during the time that they were together. However, he hardly took anything from her record/concert sale revenue and the couple decided to share custody of the kids.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also chose to forgo the uncomfortableness of a prenuptial agreement. Prince Charles and Princess Diana didn't have one either, and when they divorced it wound up costing Charles £17.5 million.

Paul married Heather just four years after his beloved wife, Linda, passed away from cancer. Ironically, Paul's marriage to heather lasted only four years and when all was said and done — he wound up paying her $48.5 million.

Russell and Katy got married in a whirlwind and their relationship was over and done with 14 months later. The two of them agreed to split their assets and Russell also waived his rights to all of Katy's $44 million fortune.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

Few celebrity marriages have ended in a more tumultuous fashion than Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's. There were accusations of abuse on both ends, and due to the fact that neither bothered to sign a prenup, Johnny was forced to pay out $7 million.

“I wish I would have signed a prenup!" Jessica said on an episode of Dr. Oz. "The funny thing is that Nick wanted me to sign a prenup and I was so offended. I was like, 'But we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives!'

J-Lo and Cris didn't even make it to a year and were divorced after only eight months. In the end, she wound up paying Cris roughly $13 million to talk away and to buy his silence as it pertained to their relationship.

When asked by Howard Stern as to whether or not he planned on getting a prenup, Seth replied vehemently "I'm not. My business manager told me to get one too. Marriage can be expensive and if I lose millions then it'll be the best millions I've spent."

At the time of their marriage, Waka was very against signing a prenup. He reasoned that love and money could never be placed upon the same pedestal and that he would never withhold from the woman he loved.

Kelsey and Camille were married for 14 years before their marriage came to a messy and grinding halt (as fans of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will undoubtedly recall). It took time, but in the end, the couple settled on splitting their $60 million worth of assets down the middle.

Dax told Conan O'Brien how early in their relationship, he told Kristen they didn't need a prenup even though he desperately wanted one. "But the joke is now on her because she's become much more successful than me, and has much more money than me," he said.

At the 2020 Oscars, Chris Rock joked that Jeff Bezos was so rich, that he was still the richest man in the world even after his divorce. This is impressive, considering Jeff settled for $38 billion.

Justin and Hailey might very well have gotten a prenup, but due to the fact that they waited until the day of their wedding to discuss the matter — they couldn't get one drafted in time. That means that Hailey is entitled to half of Justin's $250 million fortune.

Kourtney and Travis' wedding was impromptu, to say the least. Just like Justin and Hailey, they too didn't think to get a document drafted ahead of time. Considering that the couple has a combined net worth of well over $100 million, perhaps a postnup is something they might want to consider.
