'Ridiculous' List Of Requirements To Rent House Goes Viral After Asking Too Much

Unless you're a certain type of person, it's usually not a fun activity to make rules.

Not only do you have to think of so many things that could go wrong, but it's hard to gauge whether your rules are too strict or too lenient until someone actually has to try and live under them.

That said, it can often be very clear when someone is trying to draft an agreement that's only worth it to them. And whether they're trying to hire a nanny or invite people to their wedding, it's hard not to wonder who they expect to agree to their list of demands.

Because if you didn't somehow grow up with that exact set of rules, you're going to have some questions when they're suddenly sprung on you.

That's why I'm not really confident about one woman's chances of finding a new tenant after seeing what she expects of them.

On February 22, Imgur user Mostlywibbly posted a document detailing the "ridiculous" conditions a woman named Diane had for renting a house she oversaw.

Their post also showed what the house looked like and considering its modest appearance, one might expect that the rent and the list of conditions would reflect this.

However, it seems that person would be wrong.

Because if you had any hope of renting the place, you'd have to meet quite a few prerequisites in life.

Some of Diane's requests weren't too out of the ordinary as she needed a copy of any potential tenant's social security card to better identify them.

She also required enough money to cover last month's rent, the first month of rent, and a security deposit. So far, hardly uncommon for rental agreements.

And while it's a little strange that she also wants a copy of a valid driver's license, that likely has a lot to do with the location as the house is supposed to be about 40 miles from Atlanta, Georgia. That's quite a distance to bike, right?

But Diane's conditions start to get really strange when the potential renter's financial information comes into play.

Not only does she want them to have a credit score of at least 640, but she's also demanding to see three months' worth of pay stubs indicating that this person makes at least $6,000 a month.

She also wants copies of the person's tax forms indicating their annual income for 2020 and 2021.

As we can see, this is not only her way of ensuring that the $6,000 a month pay she requires is consistent with the person's annual wages, but also a way of introducing her strangest requirement yet.

Namely, that someone has to have held their current job for at least two years before they've earned the privilege of paying her to live there.

And considering that she's set the monthly rent at $2,200 a month and requires $6,600 as soon as that person moves in, that probably doesn't seem like a such a privilege to a lot of people.

Honestly, the kind of person's she's looking for in a tenant seems like they'd be in more of a position to buy the place from her than rent it. I guess she's hoping they don't realize that?
