Person Gets Unexpected Revenge On Obnoxious Neighbors Thanks To Crows

Although crows have long had a pretty morbid public image (which I suppose is to be expected when a group of them is called "a murder"), recent years have seen a lot more people coming around to the misunderstood birds.

Considering how intelligent crows have proven themselves to be and how helpful that intelligence can be in the right circumstances, there are some clear benefits to getting on their good side. And as some stories have illustrated, it turns out that isn't so hard because they're often a lot friendlier than their fearsome reputation suggests.

But at the same time, crows aren't something you want to mess with. And while some might expect that antagonizing them would put someone at risk of re-enacting a scene from The Birds, one tale tells us that their revenge can be a lot more subtle and clever than that.

The way the person we're about to hear from tells it, their neighbors hated them from day one.

As they explained in a Reddit post, this was because they actually need the accessible parking space at their apartment complex, while the neighbors just liked illegally parking one of their six cars there.

Thus, they would send the person angry letters and later graduated to filing noise complaints despite the fact that this person and their partner always listen to music with headphones on.

But while our narrator was hardly friends with these neighbors, they became fast friends with another group in the area.

And by that, I mean they noticed that the complex had a lot of crows hanging around it. And since they always liked the birds, they decided to make an effort to befriend them.

After doing some research into crow diets, this person chopped up some fruits, vegetables, and grains and brought them to the crows' favorite tree.

Eventually they made enough of a habit of this that the crows knew what time they usually showed up.

And the person would soon learn they had an enemy in common with their new friends because in their words, "Our neighbors hated the crows. They were really mean to them, screaming, tossing things at them."

Shortly after this started happening, one of their neighbors backed a car into theirs before speeding off over the person's loud protests.

But while the person gave up on that matter after failing to get much satisfaction from the police, they would soon learn that their neighbors wanted to set up cameras because someone was messing with their cars.

Although they thought our narrator was responsible, nobody knew how the small dents, scratches and chips that kept showing up in the cars' windshields got there.

At least, that was true until the person happened upon a very satisfying sight a few weeks later.

In the days between times that they fed the crows, they noticed the birds had taken to picking up little rocks and flying over the parking lot high enough to stay out of the cameras' view before dropping them on the cars.

As they put it, "Crows kept it up the whole time while this dude slowly went insane trying to catch the vandals. I don't think they ever figured it out."

The neighbors would end up moving out within a couple of years.
