If you watched the Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That, you know that pretty much every single iconic character made a comeback, except, of course, Samantha Jones and Aidan Shaw. In real life, Kim Catrall had made it known she was not appearing in the reboot, while John Corbett claimed he'd be reiving Aiden in the months leading up to the premiere.

There we were... waiting and waiting for the cameo that never came!

In a new interview, Sarah Jessica Parker got to the bottom of why John Corbett claimed he was returning to the "Sex and the City" universe.

As fans may recall, the My Big Fat Greek Wedding actor told PageSix that he would be returning for "quite a few" episodes of the reboot.

"It was fun for him to say that," Sarah Jessica Parker said while appearing on "Watch What Happens Live" as per "People".

"He actually reached out very kindly, because he's nothing if not a gentleman, and apologized for doing that as a joke," she explained.

"And then I was like, 'No, no, no, I mean, it's a free country,' first of all, and second of all, I thought it was kind of delightful and fun."

Well guess what sweet SJP, we Aidan fans did not think it was fun — we are heartbroken!

Earlier this month, "And Just Like That" writer Julie Rottenberg told Deadline that there was never a plan to bring Aidan back during this first season.

"John Corbett should be writing personal apology notes," she said. "We didn't say anything."

Well, here's to hoping we get our Adian fix next season!
