Man, I love Target.
I know, that’s like saying you love Disneyland. It’s just a known thing that Target is a magical place. However, there’s always more to learn about one of our favorite stores.
Enter: the idea of Target hacks. There’s so much to buy at Target, so why not learn some cool DIY tricks with the stuff you’re inevitably going to throw in your basket while you’re there?
I want this planter.
This DIY is pretty easy, thanks to Target selling every supply you need right in the Dollar Spot!
Christy at All Things Target spotted this ready-to-make DIY and decided put together her step-by-step process assembling it. I totally want one.
Don’t limit your painting skills to a canvas.
Now this is what I call functional art! These basic Target items got a major, colorful makeover. They went from boho to… well, artsy boho, let’s be real.
Oh, this table?
It used to be a tray.
Anna from Annabode + Co saw a gorgeous table much like it for $400. She figured she could make her own version, and she absolutely nailed it!
I could not be a bigger fan of this makeover.
This is so beautiful. This caned TV stand was almost perfect, but the wood finish wasn’t the nicest color. Enter: paint and primer.
Now it’s a perfect mid-century meets boho combo!
Hit up that dollar section for some lanterns.
These tiny lanterns were great for the outdoors, but lacked some color.
So, Rebecca and Patrick from Thuss+Farrell decided to turn them into a colorful garland moment for a party! They added crepe paper and rope to transform them from fun to even more fun.
This sconce did not start life as a sconce.
This gold wall sconce would never have existed without the vision of Erin at Francois et Moi.
She bought a black lamp at Target and a silver mirror at Ikea. Then, using DIY magic, she combined them into this amazing bedroom sconce!
Vanity mirrors are insanely expensive.
So, don’t buy one. Instead, try this! Using a mirror from Target and a light kit from Amazon, you can make your own vanity mirror for under $50. Take that, expensive Instagram mirror ads.
Repurpose an item.
Sure, you could use that for firewood, which is what it was designed for. OR you could get creative and find the perfect solution for all those blankets you keep buying.
Throw pillows don’t have to be expensive.
Because they weirdly always are, and I have yet to understand why.
Nastazsa on YouTube picked up this placemat from Target and set to work. Using a hot glue gun, some spare fabric, and some filling, she created a cute throw pillow that no one else has!
Think outside the box.
See those curtains? They’re not curtains at all. They’re tablecloths. I know! My mind was blown, too. If you can’t find curtains to suit your taste, look at other types of fabrics!
Add some personality.
Was there anything wrong with that Threshold dresser? No. It was perfectly fine. But the geometric pattern painted onto it gives it a way more personal touch!
This was a bookcase.
It was painted and given a lot of personal touches, and now it’s a great dresser for underneath a TV! There’s no limit to what you can do with paint, I swear.
Hi, planters!
Honestly, these planters look like concrete to me, not plastic.. That’s thanks to the matte finish paint that Brittni at Paper & Stitch used on them! The best part? They only cost $5 each!
This unit got so un-basic.
