Despite finishing its six season run almost six years ago, Glee remains a pop culture touchstone that still draws passionate responses from its fanbase, especially when behind-the-scenes drama is revealed.
Lea Michele, who starred as Rachel Berry on the show, has recently been at the center of that behind-the-scenes drama due to a callout made by her former castmates.
It started when Samantha Ware, an actress who played Jane Hayward on the show, called out Lea on Twitter.

Ware claimed that Lea made the show “a living hell” and that Lea had said she would defecate in Ware’s wig if given the opportunity. Other cast members, like Alex Newell and Amber Riley , commented on the accusations, with many others corroborating Samantha’s general assessment of Lea’s personality.
Lea addressed these accusations in an apology made on Instagram.

“While I don’t remember ever making this specific statement and I have never judged others by their background or color of their skin, that’s not really the point,” Lea wrote . “What matters is that I clearly acted in ways which hurt other people. Whether it was my privileged position and perspective that caused me to be perceived as insensitive or inappropriate at times or whether it was just my immaturity and me just being unnecessarily difficult, I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused.”
Heather Morris, who played Brittany on the show, has spoken out about Lea’s behavior on the set of the show.
“Let me be very clear, Hate is a disease in America that we are trying to cure, so I would never wish for hate to be spread to anyone else. With that said, was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so,” she tweeted .
“For Lea to treat others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she SHOULD be called out.”

Heather then noted that the rest of the cast was also to blame, writing, “it’s also on us because to allow it to go on for so long without speaking out is something else we’re learning along with the rest of society.”
Heather did however specify that she was not co-signing the accusation that Lea’s behavior was racially motivated.
“But, at the current moment it’s implied that she is a racist and although I cannot comment on her beliefs, I think we’re assuming, and you know what happens when we all assume…” Heather’s statement finished.
