Throughout the history of the western world, there has never been another monarch quite like Queen Elizabeth II. During the course of her historic reign, Queen Elizabeth II has overseen some of the most pivotal moments in the history of Great Britain.

On top of being beloved and revered all the world over, Queen Elizabeth II has also carved out quite the reputation for having her finger on the button when it comes to fashion. And as results from a recent poll would seem to suggest — she's inadvertently inspired an entire country's fashion sense.

Queen Elizabeth II has served as the reigning monarch in England since February 6th, 1952. Her coronation occurred on June 2nd, 1953, when she was only 25-years-old.

Back in September of 2015, Elizabeth became the longest-reigning British monarch in history.

The previous record of 63 years and 216 days on the throne was held by Elizabeth's great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. In February of 2022, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her platinum jubilee — marking more than 70 years on the throne.

Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II has become known for two things:

The first is her keen interest in government and her modernization of the monarchy. The second is her unequivocal eye toward fashion and her sense of style.

A study conducted by Centre: Milton Keynes, consisting of 2000 adults, revealed that Her Majesty is more than just a cultural icon — she's a bonified fashionista.

More than 40% of those polled believe that Queen Elizabeth II has influenced the entire nation in terms of her style.

On top of that, a whopping 67% argued that no one else on this planet dresses like the Queen.

Roughly half of all poll participants believe that Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered for her style, and 45% stated that they always eagerly look forward to seeing her outfits unveiled at Royal events.

"The Queen’s style is, and always will be, recognized by the nation," Kim Priest of Centre: MK said.

Kim went on to say that "She is best known for her statement hats, handbags, as well as headscarves and her use of color."

The survey also revealed that Her Majesty is revered for both her formal and informal looks.

These outfits range from things like the elegant dresses the Queen is known to wear at Royal events, to the boots she chooses to wear while attending horse shows.

“The Queen has always been confident in her style," Priest explained. "She is an inspiration to us all to be comfortable in what we wear.”

The Queen may be comfortable but she's never been one to be complacent. Many study participants mentioned how they felt that her looks have only gotten braver and bolder over the years.

Of the many fashion trends that the Queen has been said to have inspired, her penchant for handbags ranks above the rest.

Others include the Queen's fondness for wearing brooches, as well as her love for hats and headscarves of all colors.

While Her Majesty no doubt reigns supreme as far as Royal fashion icons are concerned, she is far from the only one.

In another study conducted by OnePoll, results show that Kate Middleton, the late Princess Diana, as well as Prince William are all believed to be British-style icons.

It just goes to show you that fashion and style aren't bound by age or youth.

Rather, it's about possessing a daring to step out of the mold, to go against the grain, and risk being misunderstood by the status quo — all descriptors that epitomize Queen Elizabeth II's historic reign.
