You know how people say, "you are your own worst enemy"? That's definitely true when it comes to celebrities behaving badly. It's kind of sad when you think about it, especially when the person in question had everything going for them, huh?
So, let's take a look at some of these instances Reddit users remember where stars sidetracked or even ruined their own careers. Surprisingly, there are a few of them out there, alright.
"He broke out in A Bronx Tale, was a good supporting character in Crimson Tide, and had a recurring role in The Sopranos. He became addicted to heroin and was involved in a home invasion robbery where his accomplice murdered the off-duty police officer living there. Promising career right down the toilet like in Trainspotting."
I had such high hopes for him and sadly it didn't pan out.
"The lead in the Funny Girl revival was hers for the taking, but she spent her entire career being mean and difficult to work with, and now, shocker, no one wants to work with her. With her talent, she should have taken Broadway by storm and scored the lead in a hit movie musical or two. And this isn’t about her being more or less talented than anyone else in the Glee cast, but her voice and acting style were made for musical theatre."
Oh, I wondered why I haven't seen her anywhere. What a shame, huh?
"He nearly squandered his career after rage quitting NYPD Blue. CSI Miami gave him his comeback return."
He was really good in CSI Miami, I give him that, but what the heck happened to him? I haven't seen him in ages.
"Mischa Barton quit the OC because she didn’t want to become type cast. Now she can’t get cast for any type."
Yikes! I don't know what's worse — always being offered the same role or never getting anything offered at all? What do you think?

"Tim Burton tried to be nice to her and tell her no in a nice way. She then dressed up in a homemade Catwoman suit and went looking for Burton on the studio lot. She was cracking her whip and acting like a crazy person. Security had to ask her to politely leave the premises."
Oh wow! I definitely didn't know that.
"Surely this needs to include Danny Masterson or whatever that guy's name was from That '70s Show. Combine him with the girl from Smallville and you have some seriously messed-up stuff.
Oh, I just had to look that up, and yeah, not great stuff.
"I hadn't heard anything about him, so I just googled it, and holy [expletive] — acting on BDSM/rape/cannibalism fantasies without his partner's consent!? No wonder he got dropped from everything."
Oh, no! I think I recall hearing about this. No wonder I haven't seen the guy in ages.

Yeah, I still don't know what he tried to get out of the whole incident. I'm confused AF.

Apparently, he recently opened up to ET Canada about his descent into meth and heroin addiction and said that he's been now sober for four years. Hopefully he can stay on the road to recovery!

I was an extra on Mean Girls, which filmed in Toronto, and I remember how innocent and sweet Lohan seemed back then. Oh, how hard they fall.

Ha, ha, I didn't enjoy that movie at all. I don't even understand what it was all about. And whatever happened to Mike Myers after that? Has he even acted lately?
"Terrance Howard not continuing his role as James Rhodes/War Machine in Iron Man. To be fair Marvel was lowballing him on money for Iron Man 2, but it would have probably paid off if he continued in subsequent Iron Man/Avengers films. He still seems pretty bitter about the whole thing."
Oh, I seem to remember something about the pay negotiations going south there.

Oh my gosh, I haven't heard about this before, but now I get why I haven't seen him in anything. And he was such a great actor. What the heck happened? That's what I would like to know.

I'm so glad she eventually got out and took her child out of the hands of Scientology.

I honestly didn't even recognize her after the nose job.

Oh, no. That sounds awful, no? I honestly don't know the whole story, and tabloids always twist things around, but I hope we see more of this talented actress.
"Ja Rule turned down an offer to remain in the Fast and the Furious franchise after the original movie because he thought they were lowballing him with their offer. After he turned them they wrote in a new character to fill the slot in the script that Ja Rule would have had and gave the part to Ludacris."
Oh, wow! I had no idea.
"When the news (of alleged sexual harassment) broke in 2017 after he won an Oscar, his roles started drying up. No new projects are on the way. The last film he did was straight to video with a 22% Rotten Tomatoes score."
Oh, boy! That doesn't sound too good.
I'll admit I didn't know about some of these stories. And now that I realize it makes sense why I haven't seen them in anything for quite some time. Well, I hope they get their life back together and end up doing something they love. Everyone deserves a second chance, no?
