Betty White's Still Alive, Celebrating Birthdays, and Being Awesome Per Usual

Betty White, the TV legend and Hollywood icon, is once again giving people on Twitter anxiety and celebrating a birthday. The Golden Girls star is 97 years old today and she became a trending topic across social media.

Many reacted as you'd think and then moved on to celebrate her life.

It's That Time Again

As some pointed out, seeing that Betty White is the top trending topic on Twitter opens up the public to one though immediately: she has died.

This has happened time and time again, and it has happened with White for the past decade at least. It's old, but people still do it.

Happy Birthday

But in the end, she's trending because it is her birthday and she's still going strong. People soon come out in force to wish the star happy birthday, lauding her career, her achievements, and other aspects of her life.

TV Legend

The main aspect has been her long television career, the longest of any woman in television history. She was a star way back in the early '50s, moving forward through numerous tentpoles like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Mama's Family, The Golden Girls, and most recently Hot In Cleveland.

Proposal

Betty White was proposed to by Allen Ludden using one of her favorite things, a stuffed Easter bunny with gold earrings. It was a testament to what she loved and how strong their feelings were. She talked a bit about her relationship during an interview with Katie Couric for her 95th birthday:

While remembering her beloved late husband, Allen Ludden, who passed away in 1981, Betty got serious as she spoke about the man she called the love of her life. But when Katie asked her if she ever thought about remarrying, she responded with her trademark wit.

"Remarry? No. Fool around, sure," she laughed. "I'm the luckiest old broad on two feet."

Immortal?

Some on social media wanted to point out that White could be immortal. This isn't the case, of course, but it is remarkable that White is still as active as she is at her age. She just keeps going and smiling all across Hollywood.

As she says, she's the "luckiest broad" in the town.

Life Secret

And as she tells Katie Couric, her life secret is more than just hot dogs and vodka. From Delish:

"First of all, keep busy. And don't focus everything on you, that wears out pretty fast. It's not hard to find things you're interested in, but enjoy them and indulge them, and I think that can keep you on your toes."

When asked if there's anything she knows at 95 that she wished she knew at 25, she said that everybody does, but at the end of the day, "I've been married three times, and I probably still would have been married three times, even if I knew what I know now."

Happy Birthday!

The birthday wishes came fast, with many keeping them simple on Twitter and maybe even grabbing a few images to show some special moments from White.

National Holiday?

Others shared the idea that maybe we should just go ahead and make it a national holiday? Why not, right? If the UK can have bank holidays every other week, we can have national holidays for specific figures.

Betty White and William Shatner maybe? Or Abe Vigoda. He might be dead, but he should be remembered.

America's Grandma

The term America's Grandma might seem odd and a bit assuming, but it's nice. She's a nice lady publicly and we don't really have any reason to think she wouldn't be a nice fill-in for our national grandmother.

Sorry, Clara Barton!

The One And Only

So yes, another year and another scare that we've lost Betty White. But the beauty here is that it's just a birthday. Hooray, right?
