Law Firm 'Hires' Stray Cat After Visitors Complain About Him Roaming The Office

Have you ever heard of a "silver-tongued" lawyer? Of course you have. Everyone has. But what about a lawyer with a spiked tongue that sort of feels like sandpaper which they like to use to give themselves daily baths?

No? Well, now you have because there's one lawyer in Brazil who does just that, and who also likes to chase laser pointers and eat "Meow Mix" and purr and it's a cat. I'm talking about a cat.

Back in February, a stray kitten named Leon started hanging around the Order of Attorneys in Brazil, which is basically like the Brazilian Bar Association.

On a particularly stormy day, employees at the law office allowed the sweet gray feline to hang out inside the lobby, even going so far as to give him a soft box to sleep in and some food to munch on.

Although he was only meant to stay inside to wait out the storm, Leon ended up becoming a mainstay in the building's reception area.

Leon was feeling pretty content with his new surroundings and he started venturing outside his box to make some friends.

In fact, he basically turned into a communal cat, greeting new visitors to the building and soaking up all the love he could get from the people who worked inside.

It definitely seemed like the perfect situation for everyone involved, especially little Leon.

However, visitors to the law office didn't take too kindly to seeing a fluffy little ball of cuteness roaming the reception area.

They began filing complaints, requesting that the stray be removed from the building because apparently these visitors have hearts of stone and can't appreciate an adorable kitten when they see one.

In order to avoid receiving any more complaints, the law office made a decision about what to do with Leon.

Of course, they had no choice but to make him a lawyer.

According to a now-viral Facebook post from board member Dr. Jeanette Laredo, Leon was made an employee, "responsible for welcoming the newcomers (whether they like it or not)."

This little guy is the real deal — he has his own employee badge and sometimes even wears a suit because he's a SERIOUS cat lawyer.

Now Leon even has his own Instagram account where updates are regularly posted to show this fierce feline working hard and making the office a brighter place for everyone inside.

He currently has more than 50,000 followers who are able to watch as he effortlessly climbs the corporate ladder like it's one of those carpeted cat towers.

And climb it he certainly does because this little guy is on his way to having his own office.

"We are finalizing the documents to launch an animal rights institute," Leon's representatives told Bored Panda.

"It's called Instituto Dr. Leon. Unfortunately, we cannot house all [the animals], so we will fund the NGOs in town. We will be an example for Brazil [to follow]."

This new institute was actually inspired by Leon and his tragic beginnings.

After he was neutered, veterinarians noticed that the cat had some problems with his vocal cords, likely the result of some physical trauma he suffered when he was just a kitten.

"He hardly meows, but we keep taking care of him," Leon's reps said. "This motivated us to create the institute to help abused and abandoned animals.”

Suffice it to say, Leon is pretty happy about his new employment.

"He is very dear to everyone," his reps said. "Even those who didn't like him got used to his presence and have fun with him. His favorite place is President Auriney's sofa; he loves to play with his toys."

Most importantly, this employee is kept regularly fed with cat food and receives loving scratches on the daily.

There's no word yet on his work ethic, and I'm sure he's prone to taking the occasional extra long cat-nap.

But I think it's safe to say if you have legal issues involving birds, canned tuna, or shoelaces, he's your guy.
