New Report Says Stay-At-Home Moms Should Be Paid Over $178K A Year To Care For Their Children

Being a stay-at-home parent is truly one of the most difficult jobs in the world and a role that is often taken for granted in our society.

One website has decided to acknowledge this career in a unique way. Each year, Salary.com releases an estimated salary for stay-at-home parents based on their hours, the importance of their work, and the salaries of comparable fields.

We all know stay-at-home moms and dads work incredibly hard.

Their day often involves cooking, cleaning, caring for little ones, and often comes with few or no breaks. Plus, did we mention that parents are on-call 24/7? Oh, and there's no overtime pay.

Salary.com has released a new report that calculated the estimated salary of a stay-at-home parent in 2019.

They determined that stay-at-home parents should be making about $178,000 annually, calculated based on a 96-hour workweek (remember what I said about the lack of breaks?).

The website included a number of example hybrid roles or careers that are similar to a stay-at-home parent.

These roles included teacher, judge, nurse, psychologist, and coach. Yup, that sounds like the day in the life of a parent for sure.

The estimated salary is also a raise for stay-at-home parents.

In 2018, their estimated salary was calculated to be just over $162,000. That's a 9.6% increase — hey, I'd take it!
