20 Incredible Things People Left On Stoops In NYC

You'd be amazed what kinds of things people leave out on the stoop for others to take if they want. Especially in a city as big as New York, where there are plenty of stoops to go around.

They say one person's trash is another's treasure, and when it comes to the things captured on the Stooping NYC Instagram page, that couldn't be any truer.

Looking for a safe new home.

I wonder if there's anything in that safe. What if there's, like, thousands of dollars stuffed in there? I guess whoever can crack it open is bound for a surprise, one way or another.

This is definitely someone's style.

This set sure is... unique. But I do think that there's at least one person out in the world who would love nothing but to be able to display these pieces in their house. One man's trash...

It's time for this piece to get scooped up.

This is honestly such a nice piece of furniture. Like, if I lived in New York City, and I had the space for this... I'd totally want to go out and try to find it.

It's never too late to start your New Year's resolutions!

This is the point in the month where people's drive to lose weight in the new year... kind of goes away. But if you're in the market for a new exercise machine, you can probably find one out there for free!

Hey, if you wanted to get into dressmaking this year...

Imagine using this thing as an awesome display for a dress you made... or one you bought. Or, you could just display it on its own. The possibilities are endless!

Bring this home as a subtle hint to your roommates.

Nothing like a super pretty privacy screen to let your roommate know you want a bit more privacy. Then again, if you have to drop hints at all, they probably won't pick up on the subtlety.

Why would anyone throw art away!?

I can't believe anyone would take such a beautiful piece of art and leave it on the stoop. But I guess anything is possible in this wild world. With any luck, it'll find a new home soon.

Talk about a golden opportunity.

This furniture looks like it would be right at home in a castle. So, if you ever wanted to live like royalty, this would be a prime chance.

Also, I really want to know what's in the box.

From one collector to another.

Sure, you could slap some wheels on these skateboards and take them for a spin around the block, but why would you? They clearly belong hanging up on someone's wall, what with how nice they all are.

Imagine what it would look like with a little TLC.

This dresser is so pretty! Imagine what it would look like if someone decided to sand it down and paint it. It's like a blank canvas that's just begging to be fixed up.

Nothing like finding an antique on the street.

I'm actually amazed that someone would throw away a vintage Singer sewing machine like that. They're probably worth a lot of money, especially if they're in good condition. But that just means someone out there is about to be very lucky.

Looks like treasure to me!

Here's another container that looks like it has to have something in it. This time, though, my bet is that it's full of treasure. After all, it looks exactly like the kind of chest a pirate would hide in the ocean.

I'm sure it still works. Maybe.

I'm not really sure why you'd throw away a whole washing machine, but I'm sure it still has some kind of value to someone. Maybe it can be fixed, or maybe some of the parts can be salvaged.

Looks like an incomplete set.

You have a desk, you have a monitor. Just add a chair (and an actual computer), and you have yourself a set! Perfect for working from home, or for housing a computer in general.

All that glitters...

I'm not entirely sure what this thing is, but I kind of love it. It's just a cute, shiny, gold crescent moon of some sort. I guess some things don't need a whole explanation to make them amazing.

Are you sure you don't want to try selling it?

This is the kind of thing that would go for hundreds of dollars as-is at an antique store. And to think, someone out there is about to get it for free... life just isn't fair.

Caution: handle with care.

This is another amazing piece of furniture, but to be honest it's kind of stressing me out. It wouldn't take much for that thing to fall over, and for all that glass to break. So here's hoping someone got to it on time.

Let's keep this one off the record.

Knowing New York, this either went home with someone hoping to listen to their favorite records from their youth, or someone who grew up in the CD/mp3 era who really loves records for some reason.

You could make some beautiful music with this.

I honestly can't believe that anyone would just give this away. Pianos are expensive, especially a vintage one like this. Excuse me while I geek out over this for a few minutes.

And it all works, too!

Somebody out there is a real saint. You don't just give away and Apple TV and a 500 GB hard drive for free if you aren't a good person, after all. If only it was in my neighborhood...
