19 Restaurants Who Threw Tradition Out The Window

There's a lot of competition in the restaurant industry. As a result, they've gotten good at trying to one-up one another.

One restaurant serves shrimp cocktail? Another restaurant gets the "brilliant" idea to sell a cold shrimp beer! Filled with ceviche along the top so customers can't even drink it without puking!

This back and forth battle eventually results in some unhappy customers. Here are 19 restaurants that threw tradition out the window.

This BBQ sundae

Of all the things that would make us feel ill, this is near the top of the list. All of those items sound amazing on their own. Why the need to fix something that isn't broken?

The topless pizza

"Accidentally ordered a pizza with no toppings. And they actually delivered it," this Redditor wrote.

Quick! Somebody get this pizza a shirt, preferably one that has cheese, pepperoni, and bacon on it.

This waterramen

This restaurant is so different. They're not like other restaurants. They serve ramen in watermelon and probably make you sing your favorite indie song to the waiter as a form of tip. Are plates not in anymore?

This appetizer

"Most expensive restaurant I've ever been," this Redditor wrote. "Chef literally made the starter in our hand."

They should be getting PAID for the labor they did in putting out their hand for the chef to make whatever the heck this is.

This gendered menu

We understand menus that are in English and French, but a man vs. female menu? That's taking things too far.

Who made someone in charge of deciding what foods are masculine and which are feminine?

This "vegetarian" dish

"The one vegetarian entrée at this restaurant is served inside the shell of a dead sea creature," this Redditor wrote.

Yeah, somebody didn't think this through. They either missed the point entirely or this was done on purpose.

This beer shrimp

This looks like the aftermath of a drunken night out, not the before! In other words, it looks like the hungover chef barfed this up, called it a "cold shrimp thing" and carried on with his day.

This hot beef sundae

And you thought the BBQ sundae was bad?! Someone decided to make the "hot" version. It's just wrong on so many levels. We're not even sure what the red thing is. Maybe the clown nose belongs to the person who made this?

This pizza staircase

Well, they do say pizza is the staircase to heaven.

But when we're going after our fifth or sixth piece of pizza, we like to do it when no one's looking. Not when we have to stand up to reach the top piece!

This wine bottle of fries

"Now I get why it was advertised as 'half a bottle of fries'. Fries in a cut off bottle of wine," this Redditor wrote. But what we don't get is why this was created to begin with.

This inflatable boat drink

The amount of germs in here just makes us shudder.

First, the boss's son, Nelson, probably took the inflatable out tubing with his friends last week. And then, after a quick rinse off, it's being used as a backwash cocktail!

This saucy burger

"This keeps showing up on my Facebook as a recommendation for nearby restaurants," this Redditor wrote.

Advertising 101: advertise photos that actually look appetizing. Just imagine trying to eat this while on a date...

This bird's nest

When the cook hit this bird on the way to work, he didn't know what to do.

And then, a thought hit him. I could serve this at the restaurant! He made a promise then and there to not let a single feather go to waste.

This drink/appetizer

"Dinner at a corporate Christmas party.... mashed potatoes, roast beef, and peas in a martini glass," this Redditor wrote.

While James Bond likes his martinis shaken not stirred, this restaurant likes it to look like cat food.

This kitchen sink

If you've ever been so hungry that you could eat everything and the kitchen sink, this is for you!

It's also great for washing your hands before you eat. Just be sure to move the food aside so it doesn't get soggy.

This overflowing sundae

The cup runneth over indeed! You know, it's pretty hard to make ice cream and chocolate (two of the world's favorite things) look unappetizing. But this restaurant has done it!

This plate of fries

"I present, Sonic restaurant's official picture on their menu of their cheese fries," this Redditor wrote. This is lazy advertising at its finest! Normally fast food restaurants make their food look good.

This cheese plate

"Plate" is a subjective word here. Let's just call this what it is: a mouse trap!

It was used about 20 minutes earlier to catch the mouse in the kitchen, and if you thought the cooks were going to waste the cheese the mouse didn't eat, you're out of your damn mind.

This soup

"A bowl would have been nice as opposed to this wine glass for my soup, which was poured at the table out of a wine bottle," this Redditor wrote. Also, wouldn't pouring soap on fried shrimp just make it soggy?
