15 Controversial Takes About What North America Does Better Than Europe

People online love to talk about how much better things are in Europe in comparison to America. They always point out that education is less expensive and better in Europe, plus health care is equitable and fair. They also bring up how people don't tip because in Europe, servers are paid actual wages, unlike the U.S.

However, people are fed up with getting the smackdown by Reddit, so Americans are sharing what they do better than the Euros.

American cartoons are king.

"I would say cartoons, I have to hand it to you guys your animations are brilliant. The Simpsons, (seasons 1-8 for me) South park which just has me questioning 'did i just see that?!' and King of the Hill, with what i call assassination humour, it's subtle..subtle subtle, and suddenly out of nowhere BAM! you split your sides laughing." -Fumbleep

Unanimously, Reddit users say that America has the best Mexican food in the world. Most likely, it could be due to the proximity to the country of Mexico. But, many say that even Mexican food in Spain and other Spanish countries doesn't come close.

Being "optimistic."

"It's not a physical thing, but North America does 'optimism' better. I've lived in 3 countries and 3 continents so far including Europe and North America. There is something in the air in North America (this includes Canada) that instils a sense of 'Go for it!' in me." -wanmoar

Small talk.

Kudhos said that when in America, they always had someone to talk to, even if it was small talk. People in America love to speak to each other and share stories together. They pointed out that in Sweden, they can't remember the last time someone stopped to speak to them.

Bars.

"Bars: free pouring, passion for beer (even amongst the ladies, which is much rarer where I'm from), seating at the bar counter, better lighting, generally less aggression & the bar food is (generally speaking) better." -ennui_

Customer service.

Some Reddit users say that Americans are better at customer service. They point out that when you complain, they allow you to have a refund or offer you some sort of consolation. In Europe and India, many companies ignore those complaints.

Confidence.

"Americans on average seem to seem have been brought up to have more self esteem / confidence, it can be annoying at times but generally I think is a good trade to have to live a more fulfilling life. And of course movies and television series, a lot of great entertainment for the whole world to enjoy." -followupquestions

"Innovations. Although this may be restricted to the past 50ish years, North America has definitely been the primary influence on the modern world. (Internet, Facebook, Mass Production, Computers, Tv Shows, Movies)." -Frabbit

Universities and colleges.

Many say that America does post-secondary education right, as many people from Europe come to America to get a better college education and experience. The Ivy Leagues are known globally for being so amazing and prestigious.

Superheroes.

"Batman, Spider-man, The Hulk, Iron Man, X-Men, Super-man, and of course CAPTAIN AMERICA.

The Europeans don't have anything that can compete with that. Hell, the aliens and extra-dimensional monsters never even screw with Europe because they know they need to take out our guys. It goes without mentioning that they always fail." - jnorm00

playing_the_angel pointed out that North Americans love their breakfast cereals. In Europe, they have a dozen, maybe, but Americans have dozens upon dozens, even if they're similar or the same kind. They're the best.

Being affordable for people.

"Making cheap goods available for cheap, and allowing people to buy stuff readily. Seriously, a can of pop costs like $2 in Italy. Also, customer service is better here. Lastly, I find that America is ahead in terms of technology, the bureaucracy in many European countries is very unorganized."

Dealing with snow.

Most Europeans have absolutely no idea how to deal with snow. It doesn't happen as often as it does for the majority of North America, so they have zero clue how to navigate around it. In America, we got the task covered.

Music.

"We have an amazing history of music and have outdone the entire world combined. The Brits have contributed mightily, I'll give them that, but we have given the world Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Glen Miller, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Otis Redding, Dave Brubeck, Earl Scruggs, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, The Supremes, Madonna, Beyonce, Eminem, Dr Dre, Bob Dylan... Whatever your tastes, a North American musician has done something awesome." -mariegalante

"Bottomless cups of coffee at restaurants and it's REAL brewed coffee not those nasty packets of Nestle instant coffee powder.

Also, public restrooms where you don't have to pay for toilet paper." -foodandart
