20 Strange Pics We Really Hope There Are Explanations For

With how vast the bank of knowledge available on the internet is, it's hard for anything to remain a mystery. Sometimes, though, people stumble across something that defies human sensibilities. In these times, those people will turn to the internet for help.

Listed here are a number of pics that we really hope there are explanations for, as do the people who took them.

"Man wearing shoe protectors over work shoes on metro."

There's nothing inherently wrong with this I guess, but are metro floors that shoe-stainingly dirty? Or are his shoes that expensive that he doesn't want to risk it? If that's the case, why not cover the whole shoe? It seems a little extra.

"New apartment. I have no words for this."

There is no way the people who lived here before you needed five coaxial cable ports. No way, zero chance. Most people today don't even have use for one of them anymore! And that's not even getting into the absolutely disastrous way they were installed.

"A Pizza Hut next to what use to be a Pizza Hut."

Not only did they lose the roof, but it's a smaller building! Did they move right from one to the other? Has business been on the decline for Pizza Hut? But I thought no one out pizza'd the hut!

"This loaf of bread I bought came with a baby loaf attached."

I understand how this kind of thing can happen with fruits and veggies. A seed starts to grow inside or there's a genetic mutation or something that causes a second growth, but that's not how bread works. There are no bread seeds. How did it get a second crust on the inside?

"[The] guy in front of me was eating a whole sweet potato pie at the theatres."

Honestly, it's probably way quieter than most other movie time snacks. No annoying packages to rip open mid-film, no crunching sounds, doesn't drop all over the floor as you eat it, bringing a pie to the theater actually sounds nice!

"The flame coming out of my melting furnace looked like I was cremating a unicorn when I was melting some aluminum cans last night."

This one actually did get an explanation, though it's pretty simple. This is technically a chemical reaction! As one commenter explained it, "Ah yes, most aluminum cans have bauxite and manganese. Manganese burns a yellow-green color when heated."

"My son's classroom uses a vintage suitcase as a bathroom pass."

It really has come to this, huh? Making hall passes a large, inconvenient, and non-forgeable as possible to make sure kids aren't just goofing off in the halls? I don't know who to feel worse for at this point, the parents or the teachers.

"This big ole' ball of wasabi."

The giant ball of wasabi is good, but the way you and your friends framed this pic is even better.

Really, though, what restaurant gives out this much wasabi? Did they see this group's order and think, "Oh, yeah, let's give these guys a challenge. Let's make them work for their sushi today."

"This tire made of glass."

I get that the explanation for this one would simply be 'art', but it's still a bizarre creation to look at. Impressive, of course, it looks extremely detailed and a great work of art, but bizarre none the less.

"Old cars becoming the river bank."

Well, here are the cars that tire probably came off of. No wonder they had to sit here for so long, a four-set of glass tires would blow in an instant!

Though this is a pretty serious case of littering, it seems to do its job well by upholding that side of the riverbank!

"I have five wisdom teeth."

Cool, thank you so much for giving me this new fear I didn't even think to have before now. I'm one of the lucky few who has never had to deal with my wisdom teeth, and now I'm afraid that if I do, there will be an extra one in there!

"Huge mushroom growing in my yard (basketball for reference)."

Another pic that got somewhat of an explanation, this mushroom is called a puffball mushroom! They're known to get rather large, and just taste like mushrooms normally do but have the texture of tofu. People have even grilled full 'steaks' out of slices of these beasts!

"My double and triple apples."

This is the first time I've ever seen this sort of thing happen with apples! If you bought these, it was probably a great deal, you're getting way more apple per apple this way!

"[The] entrance to someone’s apartment was inside of a Chinese food restaurant."

People will list a rental anywhere they can get their hands on, and where there are listings, there are renters willing to live there.

They probably make great friends with the restaurant staff this way, and it provides some nice ambient background noise to life.

"Unbelievable, the Pepperoni pizza we ordered is literally just a Bread smeared with Ketchup with Cheese and Ham."

Wow. I've seen messed-up pizza orders in my day, but never anything quite like this. There's no way the place you ordered from was a real pizzeria, right? If so, that's a grim way thing to serve your customers.

"This pre-popped popcorn in a cinema storage room ready for sale."

Wait, what? Why? I've never heard of any theater that pre-popped this much popcorn. A few bags, sure, but this is a store room full of it! Are they really going to charge $8 for a small and give people stale, old popcorn they hid in the back?

"Just logged on to my group project to see this."

As someone more observant than me pointed out, not only did someone make this image and put it in the presentation, they seemingly did so over 1600 times. So, clearly, they had time to do their part of the project, they just really didn't want to.

"There is a colony of...something growing in between the panes of glass of my window."

I was so happy and willing to just think this was frost, but no, it has to be gross. There's some hope, as there were people in the replies who didn't think this to be mold, but it's too late, the thought has already plagued my mind.

"Only a certain patch of my hair went grey."

Natural grey or white streaks are the coolest things that can happen to someone's hair. Once they reach all the way, they make you look like a cool protagonist of your own action show. You're sure you don't have any latent powers, right?

"I saw some ants carrying a glove up a lamp..."

I didn't expect this one to come with an explanation, but lo and behold! One user shared why these ants might be so set on bringing this glove home. "Some vinyl gloves use a chemical called phthalate ester, which is very, very similar to the chemical methyl anthranilate, which is A: Very strong smelling [...] and, B: A large constituent of the pheromone trails ants use. I'd guess they're hauling this bad boy because it smells like they've got their scent all over it."
