20 Things That Might Actually Be Good Ideas, Or Interesting Ones Anyway

I seriously can't get enough of other people's ideas. They can honestly be so cool. Some of them strange, of course, but a lot of them are actually pretty good.

A lot of these ideas are really good. Some of them are... well, interesting, to say the least. But that still doesn't mean they're bad. They're just, uh, unique, I guess.

These sauce combinations that are on shelves right now!

I bet there's a huge market for something like this. People combine ketchup with things like mayo all the time, so why not start selling it as-is? I swear, the people at Heinz are visionaries for thinking up something like this.

"My remote has Braille, P for power."

You know, I've never noticed that TV remotes do this. Plus, they have a little raised bump on the 5 so that someone with a visual impairment can figure out which number is which. Whoever thought to do this first is a genius for sure.

"An 'actual' zipper on my cocoa, that can be pulled down, revealing the see-through plastic inside."

It may not be the most revolutionary idea in the world, but it's really cute. It's a great way to show someone where they can peel the label to reveal the bottle underneath. I'm kind of obsessed, not gonna lie.

"Corn knife made from Damascus steel and amber."

I don't know why anyone would need a corn cob knife, especially one that looks so realistic. But... I kind of love it? It would make for a kind of fun kitchen tool at the very least.

"Our city has these one some trashcans, to put your empty bottles and cans in, so homeless people don't have to reach into trash itself."

I'm sure a design like this would help a lot of people out. Collecting cans and bottles is a way some people can make a bit of money, and this would help them keep their hands a bit cleaner.

"This carpet pattern at the Minneapolis Convention Center looks designed to make setting up chairs go faster and easier."

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but it's brilliant! each chair is the exact length of the carpet squares, and the way the circle pattern cuts through the square would make it so easy to line the chairs up. Cool!

"How the fence of the garage shows which floor it is."

I don't know who decided to do this, but they deserve a reward. Like, this is actually such a cool way to integrate the format of the garage into the design. And it probably helps keep people in the garage from getting lost.

"Local bookstore has a 'blind date' section for books."

This is a really fun idea if you want to read something, but can't decide what book or genre you want. You might not know all the covers just by looking at these pictures (though that one in the middle is totally Little Women), which makes it a real surprise.

"This ice cream place I went to is shaped like ice cream."

I love when designs take inspiration from the things they sell. In this case, the ice cream place looks like an ice cream cone. In fact, it's almost like it had to be an ice cream cone. Like, it's perfect.

This cute little miniature compartment in a bookshelf.

There's something so cute and cozy about this tiny little book nook. Sure, it's too small to actually be in, but that doesn't matter. It brings the bookshelf to life, and that's what's important. Such a fun little idea, that's for sure.

This barcode that's shaped like a rainbow.

I will never not be impressed by cool barcodes. I'm not sure what the product in the packaging is supposed to be, but I love the rainbow barcode design. It's so fun, and really adorable. It's a great way to make a package design really pop, I think.

This alarm clock has the time displayed on the front and side.

This... actually makes so much sense. Since an alarm clock isn't really facing you while you're in bed, it isn't always easy to see the time. But having another clock display on the side would fix that problem easily. Genius!

This clever Halloween packaging.

With Halloween just weeks away, it seems like everyone is getting in the mood to be spooky. And that's fine by me, especially if it means seeing cool Halloween-themed packages like this.

The idea of eating blood isn't always great, but it's from tomatoes, so it's fine.

"This spray bottle the cleaners in my building use."

This is definitely super interesting. Does the shape of the spray bottle make it any better? Probably not. But at the very least, it might make cleaning that building a little bit more fun. Probably just a little bit, though.

"My beer can has a best after date."

Since beer is a fermented drink, it'll get better after it ages, right? At least, that would make sense. That's why a best after date would be s cool idea. It tells you that, like most good things, it'll get better after you wait a little.

"Crosswalks in Korea have light bars on the ground to signal people."

That's actually so cool. This would probably help people who really aren't paying attention, and maybe it'll result in less pedestrians crossing the street when they really shouldn't. Hopefully we see this come to this side of the world someday.

"Highly detailed stress ball phone my university was giving out."

Is the design of this stress toy a brilliant idea? Probably not, but it's a really interesting thing nonetheless. I wonder if it being shaped and designed like a phone helps students destress, or if it's just cool. I think it's probably just cool.

"My Thai food came with a Chork."

This is a pretty cool idea, actually. Some people like to eat Thai food (and most kinds of Asian food) with chopsticks, while others prefer forks. The solution? Make a fork that doubles as a pair of chopsticks! It's literally the best of both worlds.

"If you unlock this car when it is dark outside, you can see that it greets you in Spanish."

Is this necessary? Absolutely not. But at the same time, it's such a cute and cool idea. If only all of our vehicles were this friendly; that would probably make the world a bit of a better place to live in.

"I spotted this coffee cup guide that lets others know if the person wants to chat or not."

I know plenty of people who would probably use that red cup first thing in the morning, but may decided to switch to blue a bit later. Either way, this is a great way for people to set boundaries, no matter what setting they're in.
