15 Upcycling Projects That Prove There's No Need To Toss Stuff In The Trash

I've got to admit I do have a lot of junk in our garage. I've been planning a garage sale for some time now... and it still hasn't happened — whoops.

I really wish I had better DIY skills because I would love to turn some of those junky things into something beautiful. That's exactly what these folks did, and I'm totally impressed.

1. This Upcycled Raised Bed Garden

If you have access to some used pallets, you're in luck. I wish I had that. That way, I could use them to make a raised bed garden just like this one. Isn't it so gorgeous?

2. This Rug

Somebody was smart enough to make this rug using old clothing and fabric scraps with a weaving method called boucherouite. Oh, how cool is that huh? I would love to do that. If only I could sew as good as this person, ha, ha!

3. This Upholstered Chair

You don't have to throw out an old antique chair just because the fabric got ripped. All you need to do is get it upholstered and, voilĂ ! It looks as good as new. I love that color, too.

4. This Drawer Chest

Why get rid of something that looks a bit old-fashioned when you can turn it into a modern piece by giving it a coat of fresh paint? Change up the hardware for that extra touch, too.

5. This Crochet Cat Bed

This person picked up a used cardigan, but instead of wearing it, they had a better idea. They used the yarn to crochet the cutest bed for their cat. Awe, I hope their feline friend loves it.

6. This Area Rug

Area rugs can be so expensive. Am I right? So this person prevented stuff from going to the landfill and made one out of six flat and three fitted sheets. What a great idea, huh? I love this rug.

7. This TV Display Shelf

"This television once belonged to my great grandparents. I didn't have the heart to take it to the landfill, so... (sp) display shelf!" - this Redditor said. They had to do it, right? Let's keep that nostalgia going.

8. These Adorable Baby Shoes

Who knew that you could turn fabric scraps collected from local businesses into the most adorable baby moccasins? I bet the stores would charge a mint for that, huh? Who needs to spend that kind of money? Ha, ha!

9. This Dye Job

I recently spilled something on one of my tops. Don't you hate it when that happens, huh? Well, this person got some bleach on their shirt, and they decided to dye it. I think it turned out quite nice.

10. This Dog Snuffle Rug

It seems to me that a lot of folks are turning things into rugs. I mean, if you can do it, then why not? After making themselves some fleece sweaters, this person used the scraps to make a cute dog snuffle rug.

11. This Tote Bag

I'm always impressed with people that can turn a simple canvas into something cool. This person did just that, and now they have the most awesome tote bag I've ever seen. Do you like it as much as I do?

12. This Upcycling Furniture Job

There is so much you can do with an old piece of furniture. In this case, somebody was clever enough to turn this into an updated seater like this one. I have to say I'm really digging this idea.

13. This Hand-Painted Clock

I don't know if I told you that I'm slightly obsessed with all kinds of clocks. The older, the better. So when I saw this one somebody hand-painted, I was immediately drawn to it. Isn't it so beautiful?

14. These Denim Scrunchies

Who hasn't had an old pair of jeans, huh? What do you typically do with them? Do you throw them out? Well, if you're like this crafty lady, you could have turned them into denim scrunchies. Aha!

15. These Lawn Animals

Oh my goodness, what is this? If you guessed lawn animals, you would be right. Somebody actually made them out of spare bicycle parts. Oh wow! I absolutely adore this idea, and I want that pink flamingo STAT!

See, I told you it isn't that hard to think outside of the box when it comes to doing a cool DIY.
