20 Powerful Pics That People Fell In Love With

When they say that a picture is worth a thousand words, they really weren't kidding. Some pictures speak wonders to the world around us, showing just how wild our world can be.

People took a load of these pictures and fell in love with them. I can't blame them; every photo speaks a lot of volume, whether it's for the better or the worse.

Blast from the past.

Remember phone booths? I kind of don't, but also kind of do. With smartphones and the internet, you kind of don't need random phone booths around town anymore. These two are kind of a reminder of how far technology has come in such a short amount of time.

"20 years ago today, my wife and I met in a waterslide line. Here's us the night we met and us now."

How amazing is that? I wonder if this couple knew they'd still be together 20 years after they first met. Probably not; who actually thinks about their lives 20 years in the future. But it's nice to see that it's worked out for them for so long. Here's to 20 more!

"This tree growing out of the front of an old car."

It's like everyone's always saying: nature will find a way. It's so weird to think about how, long after we're gone, and our descendants have lived their lives, all that will be left is nature. It really makes you think about how important the present is.

But also, how did that car even get there?

"I’ve collected hundreds of plastic bottles floating in this lake!"

As good as it is that this guy took the time to fish all those bottles out of that lake, it kind of sucks that he had to do it in the first place. The world would be a better place if people learned how to pick up after themselves (also if we stopped using plastic bottles).

"I made a new version of my London Eye time slice, made from 40 slices over 3 hours."

That's so amazing! It's cool how much a view can change over the span of a few short hours. The London Eye and its surrounding buildings went from regular monuments to party central in no time.

I feel like there's probably a lesson about time in here somewhere, but I can't help but be distracted by all the pretty lights.

A very regal encounter.

Clearly, Mark Hamill lived to tell the tale. Not that he would've been imprisoned or beheaded for looking at a monarch in the eye. At least, I hope that still isn't the case. I mean, when it comes down to it, they're just regular people, same as you and me.

"Don’t think I’ll ever get another shot like it ever!!! Taken at Portland, Dorset."

Sometimes, you just have to appreciate great photography when you see it. This shot is lovely, and the timing is perfect! I never knew that I needed to see a shot of a chopper flying directly in front of the setting sun, but I'm so glad that I did.

"Just me and 40,000 vaccinated fans rocking out to the Foo Fighters at Madison Square Garden."

Remember concerts? It seems like an eternity since we could go out and enjoy live music with thousands of strangers. All of the concerts around the world being cancelled or postponed at once was pretty difficult, but it just makes scenes like this that much more special.

"Carlos pushed his beloved dying dog Monty up Pen y Fan in a wheelbarrow for 'one last adventure.'"

Man... people will do anything for their dogs, won't they? They're our best friends, after all, so it makes perfect sense. And even when they get old and sick, we want to do everything we can to make their time on Earth special.

I hope Monty enjoyed the view.

"Keeping my promise to take her to the beach after having to cancel last year due to Covid."

Okay... I'm not crying. Nope, totally not.

I still can't get over the lengths pet owners will go to in order to do things with and for their furry friends. And since every dog is a good boy or girl, they absolutely deserve it, in this life and the next.

"My grandma was a US diplomat in the 60s-80s. She was the only woman and the only POC in all the pics."

Sometimes, you have to step back and look at how far we've come as a society. There were some jobs that people couldn't do simply because of what they looked like. The world may not be perfect today, but that doesn't mean progress hasn't happened.

"Traffic in Los Angeles with a view."

Is there a lesson that goes with this picture? Something about how we shouldn't worry about what other people are doing? Or maybe about how time is precious and we should look for the beauty in every moment?

Nah, bad traffic is bad traffic. But at least the view is nice.

"In 1945 my great grandmother wrote her name in a sidewalk. We found it again. She is 93."

It's pretty faded now, but it looks like it says "Shirley," which I'm guessing is that woman's name. It's amazing that it stayed in the concrete for nearly 80 years, though.

So much must've happened to that woman in all the time. That's literally an entire lifetime.

"My grandma made her shopping bag out of plastic bags."

When you think about it, we go through a lot of plastic bags. All the grocery shopping we do really adds up. At least this bag made out of other bags is reusable, so all that plastic isn't going to waste.

I think it's a pretty neat idea. It's one of those little things we can do to help change the world.

"Donated my swimmies to my sister's girlfriend and I'm now a proud uncle to my donor child."

Wait, how does that work? He's technically the father... but legally the uncle? Is that right?

At least the kid will have both of their mom's DNA, even if one mom's genes come from an unexpected place.

Wow, though. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing.

"An old foster mom sent me a picture taken shortly after I was born in 1979. My mother refused to hold me so the doctor who delivered me stepped in."

This picture is kind of sad, but also kind of happy. It's sad that this person will probably never get to know their birth mother, but it shows that there will always be people who care, even if they aren't blood related to you. I'm sure a lot of people can resonate with that message.

"Hidden in a birthday gift from my BF."

Is that one of those things where each capsule has a different message? If so, then that person must be in a great relationship. We all deserve someone who will send us uplifting messages like that.

Sometimes, the best gift isn't the most expensive one. It's the one with all the heart.

"Circus Tree: Six individual sycamore trees were shaped, bent, and braided to form this."

As cool as this is, it seems like a lot of effort. Do you think it hurts the trees to be bent this way? Do trees even feel pain? For all we know, they probably don't care all that much.

I'm so curious to see what the view from inside the tree would look like.

"Illegal parking is illegal parking."

I guess even kids have to learn tough lessons. Rules are rules, after all. I doubt that any officer would actually make a kid pay a fine for parking their toy car illegally, but at least it would be a learning experience.

If anything, it would teach kids to clean up after themselves.

"The grass is always greener on the other side."

I don't think that goat was setting out to make a statement when it climbed up on two legs in order to get to the greener stuff. It just kind of happened. And sometimes, the most powerful images are the ones that were captured by accident. Or something like that.
