14 Zero-Waste DIYs To Give The Planet A Helping Hand

I'm such a big fan of DIYs, especially when they're also eco-friendly. We can all do more to help our environment. Am I right?

So it's really fabulous when I stumble upon folks who create things with that very point in mind. I've rounded up my favorite ideas so far. Check them out below and let me know which one you wouldn't be able to live without, okay?

1. This Toilet Roll Hack

We all use toilet paper rolls. But did you know there are actual eco-friendly uses for that empty toilet paper roll? Check this out. Somebody uses them to organize all their cables. Isn't this an amazing idea or what?

2. This Pasta Jar Mug Idea

Let me ask you a question: do you throw away your used glass pasta jars? Hold that thought, and don't do it. You can always reuse them as drinking mugs or to store stuff.

3. This Environmentally-Friendly Candle

I have to admit I always throw away the skins of lemons and oranges. But now that I see this, I won't do it anymore. Instead, I'm going to get some natural wax and start making candles. YAS!

4. These Reusable Homemade Cotton Pads

Honestly, buying one-use cotton pads to remove your makeup is such a waste. Who here agrees with me? But the good news is that you can make reusable ones with stuff you already have in your home.

5. This DIY Bread Bag

Did you know it's a good idea to store your bread in a fabric bag? It will keep its moisture, stay crunchy, and won't go stale as fast. So use an old pillowcase, some rope, and string to make yourself one.

6. This Reusable Fabric Sandwich Bag

Speaking of bread, you also shouldn't use plastic to store your sandwiches either. So, instead, use upcycled fabric and a dollar store shower curtain to create these reusable alternatives to plastic. Oh my gosh. I love it.

7. This Starbucks Plant Holder

Who here loves Starbucks? I am guilty of that, haha. But I never thought to use a coffee cup to transform it into a cool and trendy plant holder. I bet your friends would think you bought that.

8. This Wine Barrel Plant Stand

Speaking of plants, what do you think of this idea here? If you can get your hands on an old wine barrel, then you too can make a unique and fancy plant stand like this one.

9. These Reusable Mopping Pads

I admit I love using my Swiffer to mop the floors in our house. But what I don't like is paying through the roof for those refill pads. Can somebody crochet me this awesome-looking washable mop pad, please?

10. This Easter Decoration Idea

If you're looking for a fun Easter centerpiece, don't throw away those empty eggshells. Instead, you can use them to make something like this. Oh my goodness. I am totally doing this in time for the next Easter holiday.

11. This DIY Herb Garden

If you've always wanted to create an indoor herb garden, listen up. This zero-waste idea is absolutely amazing. It's also so easy to implement. All you need is these half-gallon milk cartons. You can also add a nice rustic wood case around for support. I'm impressed.

12. These Reusable Panty Liners

Us ladies spend so much money on feminine products such as one-use panty liners. But there's an alternative. You could reuse old fabric to create these reusable panty liners instead. So much more affordable and less wasteful, ladies.

13. This Macrame Produce Bag

I'm totally obsessed with everything macrame. It's such beautiful art. Recently I bought myself a gorgeous produce bag similar to this one. But you can make it yourself if you have the time. All you need is a macrame cord and scissors.

14. This DIY Sponge

I don't know about you, but I find sponges and scrubbies absolutely essential for cleaning. They're especially needed when it comes to getting your dishes all sparkly. So I adore this idea of a homemade crochet polyester yarn scrubby.

Wow, who knew there were so many amazing and creative eco-friendly DIY ideas?
