Corgi-Mix Puppy Can't Contain Her Excitement During Her First Trip To Target

Do you remember your first time walking through the doors of Target?

Maybe it wasn't very extraordinary for you, especially if you were a kid who was being dragged there by your mom on a Saturday morning to buy new curtains for the den. But as an adult, you can't tell me you don't get unbelievably excited at even just the thought of a Target shopping trip.

Well, as it turns out that excitement isn't exclusive to humans. There's at least one puppy out there who also happens to love a good Target haul. And her name is Zira.

This sweet corgi mix was only 4 months old when she first graced the aisles of Target with her human, Jesse Donovan.

And suffice it to say, Zira was positively overjoyed to be part of that shopping trip.

With her paws perched on the edge of the shopping cart and her eyes alight with anticipation of the haul to come, this puppy had clearly just found her new favorite place to be.

Jesse definitely took notice of her pup's enthusiasm for their relatively modest shopping expedition.

“[Zira] reminded us so much of Rose from Titanic, the way she leaned against the front of the cart, looking out into the world of Target for the first time," Jesse told iHeartDogs. "We could tell she loved it so much.”

The people who happened to be shopping at Target that day were treated to quite the adorable sight.

After all, it's not every day you get to witness a sweet little puppy experience her very first Target run, and be left in awe of all its wonder.

“While we were turning a corner, this woman shopping saw her and freaked out," Jesse recalled. "She couldn’t stop going on and on about how cute Zira was. Zira just started licking her, and the woman loved it. She even picked Zira up and let her kiss her face!”

Photos of Zira's unbelievably wholesome reaction to Target were shared online where they quickly went viral.

They were posted to Jesse's official Instagram account, @itsthedonovans, where she regularly shares photos of her families and her dogs, including Zira and her corgi-mix sister, Ellie.

As of writing, that account has nearly 50,000 followers who eagerly keep up with the Donovan family, and of course, their adorable four-legged members, too.

Ever since that first venture to Target back in 2018, Zira has gone on many other shopping trips and has met each one with equal enthusiasm.

She went to Home Depot, where she got to perch inside an orange bucket reading "LET'S DO THIS".

Zira has also joined her humans on a trip to Michael's craft store, where she flashed her sweet smile while cruising the aisles in the shopping cart.

And, of course, she's made more than a few trips to what's likely to be her favorite spot of all: the pet store.

"All smiles while shopping for my favorite food, treats, and toys at @petsmart," this particular post reads.

Quite the clever move on Zira's part to tag along on the shopping trips. After all, how can you say no to anything she wants when she's sitting right there in the cart looking up at you like this? It'd be absolutely impossible.

After their original post went viral, Jesse shared a follow-up to pass on some important information about bringing dogs inside Target.

In that post she wrote,

"Please be aware that Target stores are Service Animal Friendly only! We didn't know Target wasn't pet-friendly."

Another post was shared after that one offering some more details into their original Target trip.

In that one, Zira herself explains that she's learned "a lot about the laws and regulations on pets allowed in stores."

On that trip, she was placed on a towel in the cart so she never made contact with the bottom of it, and they never met any service dogs while they were inside the store, otherwise they would have left immediately.

You live, you learn, and now the Donovans know that Target is not one of the stores that little Zira can accompany them to.

But as you can tell from scrolling through Jesse's Instagram page, they've found plenty of other certified pet-friendly spots to bring Zira along for a fun-filled shopping trip!
