Sometimes our kids make mistakes and they can oftentimes reflect poorly on us and get us in some hot water. It's not always anyone's fault, but when these kinds of accidents happen, we have to do what is best for everyone and just take care of it.

When accidents and mistakes happen, it can be a moment in which we teach our children a life lesson. Doing the right thing, no matter how hard it is, can be the best thing for our kids.

Having your kids' back shows that they can always rely on you. No matter what age they are, letting them know you will always take care of them and the mistakes they make shows them you are dependable.

One unnamed mother from the U.K. had to step up when her toddler made a giant boo-boo.

The mom was out and about with her toddler when they accidentally made a dent in their neighbor's car. Instead of leaving the car and pretending nothing happened, the mom wanted to do the right thing.

The mom decided to tell the neighbor she would take care of the damage.

Knowing that insurance companies can be costly, she decided she would pay for the damage out of pocket. While it may be expensive, she wanted to do the right thing.

According to Metro, the neighbor said that they would send her a bill the following week.

Of course, anyone in this position would be anxious waiting around to see how much money they would have to shell out and pay for the mistake. However, this mother was shocked when she saw how much money she owed.

The mom wrote a Facebook post and shared the story of how the car was damaged in the first place.

"My silly three year old accidentally hit a neighbour’s car last week when opening his door. We admitted it at the time and told the owner we’d pay for the repair (cheaper than going through insurance),” she wrote.

Anyone who has ever dented a car knows that the costs to repair it can quickly add up.

Once you factor in labor, parts, and potentially even paying for a rental vehicle or transportation costs for the owner while their car is in the shop, it can come out to a lot of money — even if the damage was minor.

At first, the bill looked completely normal and detailed all the work that would need to be done and the estimated cost of the damage. But, the bill also contained a kind note that restored the mom's faith in humanity.

“Wow such wonderful people,” the mom wrote in her Facebook post.

After examining the photo of the bill further, it was obvious as to why she wanted to share the bill on Facebook and why she said they were wonderful people.

The bill broke down exactly how much the damage was.

But, at the end of the bill, the neighbor took off a deduction saying that "these things happen" so the bill's total came to $0. Instead of paying for the repair, the neighbor said they just wanted the mom to keep holding onto their packages and mail when they are away from home.

Online, people applauded this neighbor's generous act of kindness.

Most parents have tight budgets to begin with, so unexpected costs can be a huge source of stress. Plus, we all know that accidents can happen to anyone — especially toddlers.

It goes to show you that there are still good people in this world.

While the world may be filled with some bad apples, there are still some good and understanding individuals out there. Good on everyone in this story for doing the right thing.
