Cute Carved Woodland Animals Bring New Life To The Trees They Live In

I think many of us can agree that we don't get out too often to stop and smell the roses, and I'm not just talking about those with allergies. I'm sure those people wish more than anyone that they could smell anything during allergy season and be able to see the beauty of spring through their itchy watering eyes.

One artist wants us to reconnect with nature through art, which I think everyone will be able to handle.

Would you believe me if I told you these little rascal raccoons were carved right out of this tree trunk?

If you don't, then you'll want to take that up with woodcarving artist Mori Kono.

Here's proof that he magically carves super detailed sculptures of woodland animals right out of the very trees they live among in nature!

Located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, Mori is definitely acquainted with all the wildlife in the area.

He and his team use hand chisels to really carve out all that detail.

As you can see, they also paint the animal sculptures to really bring them to life and make them look like the real thing.

Although his woodland sculptures are arguably his cutest work, he's well-versed in many other carvings and often does commission work, like this piece for the Saskatoon Zoo in Saskatchewan, Canada.

What's even more amazing? All of his pieces are carved by hand.

Mori's goal is for everyone to have a deeper understanding and respect for nature through his artwork, and I think we can all agree that he is definitely succeeding.
