19 Seriously Weird Stuff People Spotted In Someone's Yard

Throughout the country, a lot of neighborhoods fall under the authority of various homeowner's associations.

I have to admit that I've never been a very big fan of this concept, especially in cases where they're empowered to impose fines and even enact foreclosures for what turn out to be fairly superficial reasons.

I'm also of the mind that while it's not necessarily desirable to see cars set up on blocks in somebody's yard, it can give a neighborhood a little more character if neighbors get a little creative with how they decorate their properties. For instance, one house on my block growing up was painted a deep shade of purple and I always liked that.

But considering how...eccentric some neighbors can be, I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that I'd find some examples of strange features that put my beliefs to the test.

This probably seems like an adorable addition to a yard from some angles, but it's a little startling when it stares back at you through your bathroom window.

If the cardboard cut-out of Will Smith in our office makes me jump every time somebody moves it, I imagine it would be pretty tough to get used to seeing this friendly fellow.

Sometimes, it isn't our neighbors that end up with more on their lawn than anyone bargained for.

For instance, the uploader walked outside to find a red paper wasp locked in mortal combat (or "kombat," if you're Netherrealm Studios) with a huge spider.

For those keeping score, the spider lost.

I don't know about you, but this one manages to fall just shy of making sense for me.

I mean, the cage and the grinning shark makes a little sense because that's how divers sometimes interact with them.

But those divers usually aren't wearing bikinis and making a face like the dentist just told them to say "Ahh."

This may not be what we'd expect to see on a neighbor's lawn, but at least it makes it easy to give directions to your house.

Maybe if one of my neighbors suddenly got it in their heads to put up a giant rainbow face, the pizza guy wouldn't keep missing my place.

Still, it's probably a safe bet that that person would rather have one wasp on their property than a whole nest of them.

Reddit | trevdak2

This may have been intended as a birdhouse once upon a time, but it belongs to the wasps now.

Considering how birds and bugs tend to get along, this must've been a proud conquest for them.

So, we can tell right away that there's a lot to take in here.

And while this display is certainly colorful in many ways, it's hard not to focus on these images of Trump, Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in shawls.

If this person is making some kind of political point, I can't say it's very clear to me.

The dentist who lives here was likely looking for a fun way to show pride in their profession, but I'm not sure it worked out the way they planned.

For one thing, that creepy smile doesn't really help the imagery of driving a hand drill through a giant tooth. For another, this guy isn't even using that mask correctly.

Can I see his degrees again?

Even if those heads aren't real, there's always something about the decision to put heads on stakes all over the place that makes me keep my distance.

If you thought CPR dummies were kind of creepy-looking to begin with, this probably doesn't do a lot to help that perception.

The problem with lawn ornaments like these is that it doesn't make much to turn them from perfectly innocent to unnerving.

After all, this kid seems a lot less friendly when he's calmly staring at you while his legs dangle precariously from the rest of his body.

In one bizarre case, the uploader got a piece of lawn decoration that they didn't even want.

Reddit | EnjoyNukaCola

Apparently, someone drove up, left this piƱata on their front lawn, and then sped off with no explanation.

I'm not sure I'd want to break this one open.

Unfortunately, we can only speculate as to why somebody decided to attach a shopping cart to their lawnmower.

Some have cited balancing issues, but my favorite explanation so far has been that it gives them a place to put all the rocks and sticks that get in their way.

Apparently, this was the result of the uploader's dad getting tired of the angel statue in his front yard.

And although he made these...adjustments on Halloween like you might expect, he also decided to keep it like this year-round.

It may be unsettling, but I have to admit it also looks really cool.

When you remove bushes from your lawn after 24 years, you might find some surprises lurking underneath.

Reddit | rbend

Although it's a little tricky to recognize, this nightmarish sight used to be an average lawn jockey. A lot can happen in 24 years.

Putting clowns on a lawn is definitely a risky decision when it comes to one's popularity, and that goes double if it's just the head.

And considering that the uploader described this ornament as "way worse at night," it's safe to say that it's not going over that well.

While it's not necessarily wise to judge when a neighbor has a wheelchair on their lawn, it's a different story when one mysteriously shows up on yours.

That was what happened to the uploader, who discovered that someone not only left this on their property, but in the back yard.

So they went out of their way to do this and nobody knows why.

In a change of pace, these sculptures are what greets visitors to the Animal Sciences Building at the University of Florida.

Reddit | Pee_Earl_Grey_Hot

They may seem kind of abstract until you learn that they're all representations of different animal penises.

From left to right, the animals represented here are a boar, a cat, a bull, and a ram. You learn something new every day, I guess.

For some reason the uploader's neighbor's yard has an animal spine in it.

Reddit | joker212002

If it was just laying around, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that an animal or someone else just happened to drop it here.

But that little groove in the rock it's sitting on does a lot to suggest that it's here on purpose. Yay.

I wouldn't have expected one of the weirdest objects on this list to actually have an explanation, but here it goes:

Reddit | EmbertheUnusual

Although it's unclear exactly what's it's supposed to be, we've learned that it was originally from a miniature golf course in Tucson, Arizona that tore down and gave away all of their decorations.

At first, it's kind of hard to tell what's wrong with these hedges in someone's front yard.

Reddit | miamariajoh

As you look closely, however, you'll see that the owner decided to decorate them with baby doll faces that they tore off the bodies.

Do we want to know why?
