Throughout the country, a lot of neighborhoods fall under the authority of various homeowner's associations.
I have to admit that I've never been a very big fan of this concept, especially in cases where they're empowered to impose fines and even enact foreclosures for what turn out to be fairly superficial reasons.
I'm also of the mind that while it's not necessarily desirable to see cars set up on blocks in somebody's yard, it can give a neighborhood a little more character if neighbors get a little creative with how they decorate their properties. For instance, one house on my block growing up was painted a deep shade of purple and I always liked that.
But considering how...eccentric some neighbors can be, I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that I'd find some examples of strange features that put my beliefs to the test.
