In the past, and sadly even still to this day, breastfeeding in public has been seen as obscene.
But little by little, moms are leading the charge to normalize it and end the stigma once and for all!

There's no doubt that breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world.
Which is oh so wrong.
Here's hoping that these celebs who normalized breastfeeding make it easier for women to feed their children in public!
"This is a pic of me directing while breastfeeding Santi during the filming. Women multi task everyday and I was so lucky to have such an amazing crew and cast that supported both my new motherhood and career goals!," Eva captioned this shot.
"My goal was to get my little girl to six months and then decide if I (and her of course) wanted to keep going," she wrote on Instagram.
"I had zero down time and am usually pumping in a hair and make up trailer while four hands work to get me ready for the next scene with lots of other people around. Even if I had the luxury to be in my own room, it’s not even considered a 'break' because you have to sit upright for the milk to flow into the bottles!"
Rachel has been rather private about being a mom. But she made quite the splash with this photo in Girls. Girls. Girls. magazine.
The photographer shared the picture, along with a pretty iconic caption.
"Obviously #rachelmcadams looks incredible and was quite literally the dream to work with but also this shoot was about 6 months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding," she began.
"Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of. I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great. Besides she’s wearing Versace and @bulgariofficial diamonds and is just [expetive] major," she finished.
Jessica shared this photo of her collection of frozen breastmilk with the caption, "I’m starting to think we should add breast milk to the Jessica Simpson Collection 🤣."
"This is what success feels like," she captioned her photo of a very full bottle of breastmilk.
"Getting some of that vitamin Double D! 😜 Sunshine party! We try and spend daily time with Leafar outside in our front yard — especially now that he’s hit his first mental development leap at age 5 weeks. His heightened sense of alertness, smell and touch make going outside such a treat for him [and for us]. So much magical bliss [and boobs]," Kat wrote.
Kate Hudson shamelessly shared this photo to Instagram, flaunting the convenience of being able to feed her daughter whenever she's hungry.
"When you’re workin but babies gotta eat," she captioned the post.
Shay has been an open book ever since the start of her pregnancy — documenting her journey every step of the way, including breastfeeding!
"Breast friends," she hilariously captioned this photo.
Which only further proved that not everybody is okay with breastfeeding in public in 2019, and why more and more celebs are taking a stance and doing just that.
'No matter how much I HATE pumping or how complicated MY relationship with food is, it has been a joy, an honor and a no brainer to feed my daughter this way. 🙌🏽 My body has made it easy for us and i have loved every moment i get to spend this kind of time with her. Not every mother gets that," the Pretty Little Liars star wrote.
Lactation sort of comes with the territory of breastfeeding, and Christina Anstead is not afraid to normalize that either! She shared this photo with the simple caption: "#MOMLIFE."
"I often get asked how long I plan on breastfeeding. To be honest, I have no idea how long her and I will be on this journey together. I follow her lead, and she tells me exactly what she needs," Nikki captioned this photo of her and her daughter.
"One of the most special moments I’ve shared with my kids was while breastfeeding. That special look you get, that feeling of connection is unlike anything I have ever experienced. I love how #breastfeedingawarenessmonth shines a light on the importance of breastfeeding. Yes, in the beginning it can be difficult, it can hurt (the cracks, bleeding, engorgement), but no matter how challenging, I would not change that experience for anything in this world," the supermodel captioned this photo.
While she may have faced a ton of backlash for this photo, as breastfeeding moms are supposed to refrain from drinking alcohol, kudos to Snooki for keepin' it real and showing off her multitasking skills — something every mom develops.
“What’s mom life like with 2 kids and a newborn?” THIS. #MomJuice #ImAGoodMomISwear," she wrote.
Canadian singer-songwriter, Alanis Morissette, shared this photo of herself breastfeeding in bed next to her other two children and her husband.
"Mornings. #exhaustedbliss," she wrote.
"Snug as a bug in a milky rug," she captioned the photo.
"Sending out love to the moms shaming me," she wrote on Instagram along with this very realistic photo of just how glamorous pumping milk is.
"Many women today are shamed for breastfeeding in public, or even kicked out of public places for feeding their children. Those who feel it is wrong to feed your child in public need to get educated on the benefits breastfeeding has on mother and child and intern on society as a whole #mothernature," the model wrote.
Ali shared this throwback pic and wrote about the reality of breastfeeding with a toddler in the house.
"When the first child met the second child and tried to destroy her head while I was breastfeeding and I realized the biggest hazard to my newborn baby was my toddler," she said.
