Twitter Is Angry After Kristen Bell Criticized 'Snow White'

Diply 18 Oct 2018

I think it's safe to say that most of us grew up watching Disney movies, and most of us probably had a favorite Disney princess, right?

I know mine was Mulan, with Ariel coming in at a close second.

The princesses hold a special place in our hearts, so unsurprisingly, Twitter was pretty shook when Kristen Bell went after Snow White.

Kristen Bell is honestly so adorable.

She's always sharing her best relationship advice along with her hubby, Dax Shepard, and together, the two can crack anyone up.

She's also the mom of two daughters, Lincoln and Delta.

The pair are notoriously private about their family, and are always making sure that their kids' faces are covered up if they post photos of them on Instagram.

But just because she doesn't show off her kids online doesn't mean that she won't dish out the parenting advice every once in a while.

She once put herself in the line of fire by admitting that she locks her 3-year-old in her bedroom when it's time for bed.

"I'm sorry, I know that's controversial, but we lock it when she gets in there, and we stand outside and say, 'We love you, we will talk to you in the morning, but now, it's time for sleep.' And after about 10 minutes, she'll wind herself down. And then, before we go to bed, obviously, we unlock it," she explained to *Parents*.

People didn't hesitate to roast her for the controversial parenting decision.

Seriously, Twitter lit on fire after that confession, but as celebrities do, Kristen got over the hate and moved on with her life.

Kristen sparked yet another debate on Twitter with her latest parenting decisions, this time over her opinions on Snow White.

She spoke to *Parents *yet again, this time about reading to her daughters at bedtime.

She explained that reading with them at night is her favorite time of the day.

"I glance away from the book and see their brains working while we're all cuddled up like meerkats," she said.

She added that whenever they finish reading Snow White, she has a talk with her girls about the story line.

She asks them if they think it was weird that Snow White didn't ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple, or where she got the apple from.

"I say, 'I would never take food from a stranger, would you?' And my kids are like, 'No!'"

"And I'm like, 'Okay, I'm doing something right,'" she explained.

The topic of consent is also discussed during story time.

"Don't you think that it's weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?" she asks her daughters.

Load Comments

"Because you can not kiss someone if they're sleeping!" She adds.

We're going to say right off the bat that talking to your children about consent is so important and absolutely necessary, and we applaud Kristen for doing just that.

However, Twitter doesn't quite agree with Kristen's parenting methods.

They basically thought Kristen was being totally ridiculous for having such a thought.

A lot of people thought it was ironic that Kristen criticized Snow White when she's the voice of Anna from Frozen.

Because as we all know, Anna didn't always make the best decisions.

People really hold Disney close to their hearts, and will defend these fairy tales until the day they die.

I do get not wanting to ruin the nostalgia by "overthinking" things, but sometimes overthinking isn't a bad idea.

In the end, it's okay to enjoy these stories, but we probably should be questioning morals and lessons that were a thing back in 1937 when the movie first came out.

Could you imagine the world we'd be living in today if we didn't?

I don't think Kristen set out to offend anyone, but instead, is just trying to teach her daughters some good lessons.

Either way, we love a controversial queen. ?
