8+ TV And Movie Witches Ranked From Fair To Foul

Diply 22 Oct 2018

October has always been one of my favorite months. I love the personal hug you give yourself when you choose to put on a comfy sweater. October also brings happiness in the most basic form — the pumpkin spice latte. However, my most favorite thing of all is that I have the perfect excuse to let my inner witch come out.

I would love to tell you that I have always related to the smart and do-good witches, but that would be a lie. Today, we are ranking some classics from fair to foul!

1. Hermione Granger — Harry Potter

If anyone is really surprised by this, here is your excuse to watch the movies again. Can we talk about how lost both Harry and Ron would be without her? They would have barely scraped by in school, let alone successfully finding any of the Horcruxes. Let's not forget her efforts attempting to free house elves, either.

2. Sabrina Spellman — Sabrina The Teenage Witch

My parents probably would say that I was a witch when I was a teenager. Although, I wasn't as charming, and I didn't handle it as well as Sabrina.

Thank goodness I didn't have any magical powers. She managed pretty well for living with two crazy aunts, but I probably wouldn't have.

3. Sally and Gillian Owens — Practical Magic

IMDb | IMDb

These were the witches I aspired to be when I was younger. I remember being envious of their sisterly bond. My sister and I even did a version of the pact at the beginning — minus the blood. I feel like my love life is more cursed than they are (thankfully, though, no one has died).

4. Glinda The Good Witch —The Wizard Of Oz

To be honest, I'm on the fence about her belonging undergood. Yes, she did "help" Dorothy get home, but if you've ever followed the Wicked series, there's a lot more behind those good looks.

5. The Wicked Witch of the West — The Wizard Of Oz

Okay, maybe you shouldn't follow someone and threaten their dog in an attempt to get back your sister's shoes. However, I would be mad, too.

6. Maleficent — Sleeping Beauty

I've totally been mad about not getting a party invite. However, I'm proud to say that I've never cursed somebody to fall into a deep sleep on their 18th birthday. Not to mention being cursed to a kiss from a person who didn't ask first.

7. Ursula — The Little Mermaid

How petty can these witches get? I mean, stealing voices? And then trying to steal a love interest? I can't say that I've gone that low. I don't know what they see in Eric, anyway.

8. The Queen — Snow White

IMDb | IMDb

It takes a special kind of witch to want to poison someone because they are prettier than you. I'm also kind of ashamed that her witch form resembles me when I wake up in the mornings.

9. The Grand High Witch — The Witches

Can somebody tell me how this was a kids' movie? Oh, that's right, it was the '90s. If I saw a movie about witches wanting to get rid of children today, I would still be scared. She definitely looks the part.

10. Bellatrix Lestrange — Harry Potter

IMDb | IMDb

Helena Bonham Carter's performance as Bellatrix is one of my personal favorites. Of course, I loathe the character herself for all the destruction and pain she caused working alongside He Who Must Not Be Named.

11. Melisandre — Game Of Thrones

IMDb | IMDb

Melisandre is a terror, no matter what time of day it is. I remember being so freaked out by her shadow baby. I would not mind her being on the chopping block next.

Honestly, though...  I'm still not over what she did to Shireen

I think she might be colder than a White Walker, and that's saying something. Hopefully, she gets her just deserts in the next season!
