Teenager Asks Dad For Help With Her Résumé, And His 'Help' Is Savage As Hell

Diply 23 Aug 2018

Part of being a teenager involves figuring out when to take a step forward into adult responsibilities...and when to drag your feet and hold onto childhood for as long as possible.

16-year-old Lauren found herself in the midst of that transition period when the time came to go out and get her first real job.

She wasn't quite finished high school yet, but when you're a teen, a little extra spending money can go a long way.

But getting a job isn't as easy as just going out and getting a job, right?

Like, it's not like the old days when you just walked out the front door and there were jobs lining the streets, begging to get filled.

The first step (and I hope I don't have to explain this to anyone) is to write your résumé, or CV, or whatever you call it, and get ready to show the world what you have to offer. Lauren wasn't really feeling it, presumably, and asked her dad for help.

As it turns out, her dad's idea of "help" was a far cry from what she needed to actually land a job.

His draft of her résumé probably wasn't exactly what she had in mind.

Instead, it would seem that he took the opportunity to vent his various frustrations with his daughter, starting with her grades.

At least she's good at art, right? The all-caps "FAIL" seems a little harsh, though.

Based on the name of the business, it seems that Lauren worked for a time as an assistant to her father's business. Judging by her supposed responsibilities, I guess we should use the word "assistant" loosely.

And that's when her dad was still being nice. Things went from a kind of hilarious constructive criticism to being outright savage.

Her "experience" with gardening, for example, left a lot to be desired, and her dad wasn't shy to let her know just how little he thought of her work ethic.

At this point, it just became an opportunity for Lauren's dad to list all of his grievances in point-form.

It started off with the kind of things you'd expect the father of a teenager to say, but got pretty brutal toward the end.

At this point, we honestly don't even know if we're laughing or cringeing.

We're also pretty sure that the contact info on the résumé was fake, but just in case, we've decided to keep it out.

Lauren doesn't seem like the type to let a little obstacle like this get her down. After all, if she can put herself together this well, what's a little résumé?

And hey, maybe she learned a thing or two about taking responsibility and doing things for herself.
