Models Are Seriously Pissed At Kendall Jenner After She Bashed Them

Diply 21 Aug 2018

We all know that when it comes to the Kardashian-Jenner family, their success is somewhat of a controversy. When Kylie Jenner became known as the "youngest self-made billionaire," there was some serious outrage.

Kendall Jenner isn't free from criticism either, especially when it comes to her modeling career.

Anybody who has watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians from day one knows that Kendall Jenner has always had an interest in modeling.

She made it clear from the start that this was her passion, but she didn't want to use her family's name to help her land gigs.

But let's be honest — it's not like she started from the bottom.

To nobody's surprise, her career took off, and before we knew it, she was jet-setting around the world and walking in some of the world's most well-known fashion shows.

Kendall's modeling career has had a few controversial speed bumps along the way, like the time she posed as a ballerina and, well, every ballet dancer in the world was fired up about the representation.

And we all know about that insanely controversial Pepsi commercial she starred in a little while back, and ended up apologizing for.

Anyway, Kendall has managed to seriously anger some big-name models after she spoke to Love Magazine, and a now-deleted quote from her interview has spread like wildfire across Instagram.

"Since the beginning, we've been super selective about what shows I would do. [...] I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the [expletive] those girls do," she said.

"More power to 'em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back," she added.

Well, apparently, the comment about being "selective" when it comes to her work was enough to seriously anger some models, including Luma Grothe, who shared how hard it was being a struggling model when she first started out.

She explained that when she first started in the industry, she was starving for the first three years. "I had to work so hard for people to even remember my name!" she wrote.

Croatian model Faretta was less than impressed by the comments.

"Seriously?!?!?!? Being lazy is not being selective. We work! hard and giving 100% from us, but you can't say that for yourself....and after all you dare to talk like this?!" she wrote in a post.

"Never been so indirectly and publicly offended in my whole entire life god d*!!!!!!!!!!" wrote modelIrina Đuranović.

"'...whatever the [expletive] those girls do' is do their very best to make their way up AND try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families. Oh, and it's 70 shows a season by the way and we all are [expletive] proud of every single one of the girls that did it," wrote Daria Strokous.

BuzzFeed reached out to Kendall's representative for a quote and explained that the quote didn't reflect what Kendall intended it to.

"It's not what she meant. The quote was taken out of context.

"Mid-thought she realized the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80. The point was that it's their path and 'the more power to them.' She admires their hard work and dedication. It's an accomplishment," they wrote.

Kendall took to Twitter recently to explain what really went down, and repeated that she was misrepresented, claiming that her words were twisted and taken out of context.

She made it clear that she has immense admiration for the models she works with and wanted to highlight their hard work, not demean them for it.

In fact, these hard-working people are a source of inspiration for Kendall, and she wanted to make it crystal clear that the quote was not an accurate reflection of how she felt.

"Cultivate kindness today and always," she added.

It should be no secret by now that the media is constantly twisting the words of celebrities and taking quotes out of context just to get some publicity.

And in this case, it clearly worked, because everybody is now talking about Kendall and the interview.

We're just not sure if this was the ideal scenario to twist anyone's words...
