Lindsay Lohan Just Dragged The #MeToo Movement, And Now She's Canceled

Diply 9 Aug 2018

I don't think I've ever found myself wondering what Lindsay Lohan has been up to lately, mostly because she's constantly making sure that she's still relevant.

Between starring in Lawyer.com commercials and going off on her beach resort employees, LiLo decided to speak up about the #MeToo movement, and people are not happy about it.

It's been a hot minute since Lindsay Lohan has starred in any mainstream movies or television shows.

But that doesn't mean she's been sitting around doing nothing. In fact, she's constantly making headlines for the most random reasons.

Like that time she threatened to fire the employees at her beach resort because their shoes didn't match.

And she did it over Instagram, of all places.

And to nobody's surprise, she just went and did it again.

She spoke up about the #MeToo movement in a recent interview, and her comments have people seriously outraged.

In an interview with The Times, a British publication, Lindsay was asked about her own experiences in regards to the #MeToo movement.

Now, in the past, several actresses have spoken up about their experiences with sexual assault in the workplace, specifically in Hollywood.

Of course, being a big name in Hollywood doesn't mean you're required to speak out about your experiences.

But it does mean you should think twice before you bash such an important movement.

It turns out that Lindsay "didn't have much to say" about the movement.

“I can’t speak on something I don’t live, right?" she explained.

And like I said, you don't have to comment on the movement.

And if she had stopped here, that would have been okay. But she didn't stop there.

"Look, I am very supportive of women. Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways,” she went on.

She also added that she didn’t condone “attention-seekers.”

With that being said, she made it painfully clear that she thinks if you experience harassment or assault, you discuss it at the moment it happens.

“You make it a real thing by making it a police report,” she said.

“I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women," she said.

“You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened,” she added.

It's pretty obvious that the internet was less than impressed with Lindsay's comments.

Actress Aisha Tyler tweeted about Lindsay, declaring that she was now "canceled."

Some people thought it would be best if Lindsay had just said nothing about it at all.

"I think Lindsay Lohan would do herself the biggest favor by remaining quiet," one user tweeted.

Of course, it's important to note just how crucial the #MeToo movement really is.

Comments like the ones she made can be pretty damaging to such an important movement.

And thankfully, Twitter is full of supporters reminding everyone that speaking out against sexual assault or harassment does not make you weak or any less of a strong woman.

In fact, it's quite the opposite.
