Keep Your Phone Safe And Fully Charged With This DIY Charging Pouch

Diply 7 Aug 2018

As convenient as cell phones are, finding ways to charge them and ensure they're charging can be a bit of a hassle.

And that's where this pouch comes in handy!

Pick the material of your choice, and create a pouch to keep your phone near the outlet so you never have to worry about it falling off a table or getting accidentally unplugged again.

All it takes is a little material, a sewing machine or hot glue, and less than an hour of your time.

Gather up the materials to create a handy pouch that'll keep your technological lifeline safe!

Cut your fabric into two pieces: one 10.5 x 5 inches and the other 11 x 2.5 inches.

The larger piece of fabric will be the pouch itself, and the smaller one will be the "handle" that goes up and over your charger cord.

Take the 11-inch fabric (the long thin one) and place it with the design facing down.

Fold one long edge over 3⁄4 of the way to the other edge and pin it in place. As soon as it's straight, sew the edge lengthwise.

Now fold the other edge so it overlaps and pin it in place.

Sew this edge as well. Ta-da! You just made the strap — or "handle" — of your pouch that will loop over your charger cord.

Fold both short edges about half an inch into the middle and pin everything in place to hold it steady. Sew along these edges.

Time to practice your hamburger fold!

Fold the fabric in half (hamburger fold rather than hotdog) with the design side facing inward, and pin the sides to keep them in place.

Sew the sides together and remember to leave the top open because that's where you'll put your phone in!

Place the fabric down and bend the strap you made earlier into a "U" shape.

Sew the strap onto the pouch on one side, just below where the opening is. Make sure that the bottom of the strap is facing the opening of the pouch.

You're almost done! Just turn the pouch inside out.

Place your phone in it, and you can now hang your phone in its little pouch on your charger block that plugs into your outlet. It's a handy way to keep your phone out of the way and off the floor.

For a no-sew option, try hot glue instead of stitches!

If you don't have a sewing machine and don't want to invest in one, hot glue's a great alternative. Just remember to let the glue dry before hanging your phone from your charger block.
