Dave Bautista Improvised A Scene In 'Infinity War,' And People Are Losing It

Diply 15 May 2018

For the longest time, Drax, played by Dave Bautista, has been one of the MCU's most underrated characters.

Coming from an intergalactic race who speak and understand only in the most literal terms, his deadpan humor has been making subtle appearances since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.

But this year, in Avengers: Infinity War, Drax's dry comedy really stood out.

Actually, one of the funniest lines in all of Infinity War came from none other than Drax.

"I'll do you one better:Who's Gamora?" answers Iron Man."I'll do you one better: Why is Gamora?" says Drax.

The sheer ridiculousness of the line totally defuses the moment, and audiences everywhere loved it.

So much so that it became a popular "Expanding Brain" meme, where Drax's question is obviously the most intelligent and perceptive out of the three.

And, as it turns out, Dave Bautista actually improvised that line.

We know — it's almost too good to be true!

The exciting tidbit was revealed in an interview with Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

"And then one day Bautista just goes, ‘I’ll do you one better: Why is Gamora?’” Markus explained. “It’s like, ‘OK, you’re very good at your job.’”

Uh, no kidding!

Actually, Tom Holland ad-libbed that intensely emotional scene in the movie where he dies in Iron Man's arms.

Tom's improvisation is especially remarkable because the scene with Peter Parker's death marked a pivotal moment for the character.

Up until that point, it's difficult to say whether Peter had fully understood that gravity of the situation in Infinity War or the serious risks that come with being an Avenger.

And Tom Holland expressed all those intricacies flawlessly in his death scene.
