We Think 'Avengers 4' Will Set Up The Young Avengers, And We're Already Clapping

If you're like me, then you've spent countless hours lost within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) wormhole otherwise known as Avengers 4 theories.

But while many A4 predictions involve the film's overall plot line, few have guessed how the final installment of the saga will end.

Of course, nothing really ends in the MCU without something new being created...

...which is just a roundabout way of saying that I think Avengers 4 will plant the seeds for a Young Avengers feature film.

You're probably not sold on the concept just yet, so let me present some details and try to get you on my side.

First of all, when asked about the possibility of a Young Avengers movie, the MCU's president Kevin Feige appeared to be intrigued by the notion.

"Clearly, anything from the comics is our inspiration going forward," said Feige during a press event for Ant-Man and The Wasp.

"We love that Cassie, in this movie, in particular, is inspired by her father, wants to do good," continued Feige, referring to Scott Lang's young daughter and her interest in her father's work.

"Certainly, we're following that trend. Where, when, how, we'll see, but I think it would be cool," said Feige.

What's more, in a separate press meeting, Feige explained why Lang's daughter was originally cast so young in the Ant-Man series.

"We wanted Cassie, a very young Cassie in this movie, to be inspired by her father. Just planting seeds," explained Feige.

By the sounds of it, the MCU has been thinking about the possibility of a Young Avengers film for some time now — at least as far back as Ant-Man in 2015.

But how might the Young Avengers link to Avengers 4, you ask?

Most notably, Cassie's character in Avengers 4 (yes, she's in it) is set to be played by Emma Fuhrmann, an actress who's a full decade older than the girl who originally played Cassie, Abby Ryder Fortson.

Not only does this hint at all those time-travel theories about Avengers 4, but it also puts Cassie in a more mature position.

A position, for example, that could allow her to make her own decisions — like joining a super team.

In the comics, Cassie wants to follow in her father's footsteps.

Although, Cassie doesn't take action in this regard until her father dies. But as Feige said, the MCU takes its inspiration from the comics, and we hardly expect to lose Ant-Man anytime soon.

Anyway, Cassie ends up joining the Young Avengers under her alter-ego, Stature.

Unlike her father, who uses a suit to alter his size, Cassie's abilities come from extended exposure to Pym particles.

However, her powers are much like Ant-Man's in that she can both shrink and expand her body.

But what about the other Young Avengers?

So far, we know of just one other potential candidate for the team: Harley Keener.

We were first introduced to Keener in Iron Man 3, where he played little more than a sidekick to Tony Stark. Keener looked up to Iron Man and was an engineering prodigy, much like Stark.

Keener, played by Ty Simpkins, is also cast in Avengers 4.

And get this: He's the exact same age as Fuhrmann. Plus, there's one Young Avengers character he'd fit perfectly into: Iron Lad.

From the looks of it, we already have two possible Young Avengers starring in Avengers 4.

Or, to paraphrase Kevin Feige, it looks like Avengers 4 may be "planting the seeds" for the Young Avengers.

And considering Avengers 4 will mark the conclusion of Phase 3 in the MCU, setting up the Young Avengers for the next phase seems like a possibility.
