Every '90s kid knows that "Torn" by Natalie Imbrugalia is a certified jam.

It was the song we danced to when our parents were out and belted at the top of our lungs every time it came on. It still has the power to transport me back to a simpler time when my wardrobe consisted of exclusively flannel.

But what if I told you that everything you hold dear is actually a lie because "Torn" is a cover?

If you are shocked right now, you're not alone. In fact, '90s kids everywhere are staring mournfully out their windows because they just found out "Torn" was actually written by some band called Ednaswap.

What in God's named is an Ednaswap?!

This is a massive catch-22 because the only song that has the power to heal us from this trauma is the song that caused it!

So obviously a lot of '90s kids are pretty emotional about the whole mess, while music nerds everywhere who already knew about this are sitting back and watching. (WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US SOONER, MUSIC NERDS?!)

Either way, I think we can all agree that the one true version of "Torn" will always be by our '90s goddess, Natalie Imbrugalia — and NEVER that cursed One Direction version.

What do you think? COMMENT and let us know, and TAG a fellow '90s kid.
