Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, broke their silence, revealing via Instagram that they have suffered a miscarriage with their fifth child after four months of pregnancy.
Hilaria Baldwin took to Instagram yesterday to reveal that she and her husband, Alec Baldwin, have sadly suffered a miscarriage at four months.

She and Alec announced their pregnancy in September, five months after suffering a first miscarriage.
She shared a heartbreaking video of her six-year-old daughter, Carmen, comforting her.

In the video, she adorably estimates that her mom will have a baby in 15 months.
“How long is it gonna be?,” Carmen asked. “For the baby coming.”

“I don’t know,” Hilaria responded. “Gonna try really hard.”
“Thank you for saying you’re sorry, mommy’s sad,” Hilaria tearfully added, before Carmen kissed her on the cheek.

The caption of the post explains the situation in more detail, however.
“We are very sad to share that today we learned that our baby passed away at 4 months,” she wrote.

She explains that she and Alec are taking the news as expected, and are working toward moving forward.
“We also want you to know that even though we are not ok right now, we will be.”

She then acknowledged how grateful they are to have four healthy children.
“We are so lucky with our 4 healthy babies—and we will never lose sight of this,” she continued.

She then added some context to the video, revealing that she recorded it to show Alec how she broached the news to their daughter.
“I told Carmen and took this so I could send it to Alec. I guess this is a good way to share it with you too.”

“I told her that this baby isn’t going to come after all…”
“But we will try very hard to give her a little sister another time,” she went on.

She added that naturally, she feels heartbroken over this loss as it was not something she foresaw happening again.
“I’m really devastated right now…I was not expecting this when I went to my scan today,” she wrote.

“I don’t know what else to say…”
“I’m still in shock and don’t have this all quite clear,” she wrote before asking for paparazzi to respect her family’s privacy.

“Please no paparazzi…that’s all I ask.”
Hilaria also shared a photo of herself holding her belly in her Instagram story.

“Today didn’t go as planned. I’m very sad,” she wrote. “Tonight is my last night with her…such a strange experience.”
Back in April, after her first miscarriage, she spoke about the possibility of having another one.

“I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss,” she said .
“I think it’s important to show the truth because my job is to help people by being real and open.”

“Furthermore, I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be a part of the effort to normalize miscarriage and remove the stigma from it.”
Hailey Baldwin showed her support for her aunt and uncle on Instagram with this comment:

This was one of many comments from fans and fellow celebrities sending Alec and Hilaria their condolences.
