Actor Joel Osment was recently arrested at a ski resort for public intoxication but not without hurling a slur at one of the officers in the process. The shocking moment getting caught on camera by a bodycam.
Osment is known for movies he did as a kid
Joel Osment, who is now 37 years old, is best known for movies he acted in as a child, most notably The Sixth Sense. He also acted in Pay it Forward, Forrest Gump, and most recently, Blink Twice.
He was arrested a ski resort
The actor was arrested in Mammoth Lakes, California when he was taken into custody on April 8 for public intoxication.
The Office of the District Attorney County of Mono announced on April 17 that he has since been charged with two misdemeanors.
The Office gave an official statement
In a statement, the Office of the District Attorney County of Mono said, “District Attorney David Anderson announced that Haley Joel Osment, 37, was charged today with two misdemeanors arising from his arrest by the Mammoth Lakes Police Department at Mammoth Mountain on April 8, 2025.”
They explained exactly what he was charged with
The statement continued, “Specifically, Mr. Osment was charged with a violation of Penal Code Section 647(f) – Disorderly Conduct: Under the Influence of Alcohol in Public, and Health and Safety Code Section 11350(a) – Possession of Cocaine.”
Osment is due to be arraigned on July 7 at the Mammoth Lakes branch of Mono County Superior Court.
Substances were found in his possession
Officers found a $20 dollar bill in Osment’s possession with a substance inside it. A source from the police later told People that the “controlled substance” in his possession “is presumed to be cocaine.”
Footage of the arrest was shocking
Bodycam footage of the arrest shows a shocking moment when Osment verbally assaults one of the officers.
In the video, the actor can he heard saying that he was being “kidnapped by a f**king Nazi,” with the slur later prompting an apology from him.
Osment apologized for what he said
The actor apologized for the language he used in a statement issued by People where he called his own actions “disgraceful.”
Osment said, “I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.”
He spoke about the loss he faced
Osment said, “The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place.”
The actor was one of many who lost their homes in the California wildfires earlier this year. He continued, “But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word.”
Osment apologized ‘from the bottom of his heart’
“From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage – I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me,” Osment said.
“I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”
