Over the past decade, we’ve seen a lot of things get invented that really didn’t need to. Male rompers, avocado savers, and The Ultimatum on Netflix (it’s straight-up messy), to name a few.
But when it comes to the things we actually need — ahem, male birth control and a solution to the hate and bigotry in the world — no solutions are found.
Clearly, some skimming needs to be done to make room for some good in the world. We’ll start with these 19 things women can’t believe exists in 2022.
Dating shows like ‘The Bachelor’

They don’t call it a guilty pleasure for nothing. The show, which initially was focused on finding love, has taken a deep dive over the years. It’s now become a platform where people make a mockery out of themselves for Instagram followers.
Super bright LED headlights

“They’re blinding. They should be regulated so they can only be but so bright and maybe be more of a warm light so it’s easier on other people’s eyes.” – u/ Tissue_boogie
I will have no choice but to agree with this.
Taxes on menstrual products

Women shouldn’t be forced to pay for tampons and pads all because they have a vagina! If it can’t be free, it should at least be tax-exempt. I mean, women can’t CONTROL this, you know what I mean?
Loud music in movies and TV shows

“Music that is WAY louder than the dialogue of a movie. Why hasn’t anyone figured out how to regulate this yet???” – u/ verucasaltpork . The same goes for TV commercials. Why are they so loud?!
Cover letters

If you think about it, it’s just a second version of you explaining your resume. Why is that necessary? The worst are companies with ancient systems that ask you to manually add every part of your resume and cover letter again .
Hate against LGBTQ

“They’re literally just trying to love someone and themselves. Leave them the [expletive] alone!!” – u/ winterbaby26
It’s the year 2022 people. Equal rights and lack of hate isn’t too much to ask for. Do the bare minimum: accept your neighbors.
Lack of male birth control

Don’t forget that it takes two to tango, fellas! That’s why many female Redditors are appalled that the onus is still on the women to take care of protection. We’ve been hearing about male birth control for years, but where is it?!
People smoking cigarettes

“Especially young people. Don’t they know it will literally kill you, a slow miserable painful tortured death?” – u/ stephmitchell
Considering the fact that we all KNOW what these things do to our bodies, it’s a wonder that anyone smokes at all.
Cancer

Many thought that we’d have a cure by now, especially with so much research involved and so much funding. But nope. In some conditions, cancer rates even increased. It is a wonder that we haven’t found a cure for at least one type of cancer.
MLMs

“People can buy whatever they want online why do they need “a hun’ who takes a commission while also trying to hustle you to join their ‘biz’ at the same time?”- u/ mydogfinnigan
This is one of those things I will never understand.
Umbrellas

While they are useful, one Redditor questioned why they haven’t changed much since being invented. “I don’t know it’s weird to me because I feel like everything has been revolutionized so much and then there’s just.. umbrellas,” they wrote.
Fax machine

“My moms doctors office still takes all paperwork by fax. The receptionist was in shock when I brought in the stuff they asked for, asking me ‘why didn’t you just fax? You didn’t have to go through all this work!’ Ma’am…..where tf do I find a fax machine these days?”
Sexism

It’s a sad thing to still exist, considering all the strides women have made to be considered equals. And yet, there are still men who believe that women shouldn’t be given equal pay or even be working outside the home at all.
Tampon machines in bathrooms that only accept quarters

“They should really be free but if not, can we at least modernize and make it a vending machine with better quality items that you can pay for using your phone or debit card??!!!” – u/ limeblue31
War
It’s hard not to wish war didn’t exist when we have an actual war with Russia and Ukraine ongoing. Didn’t the world learn from World War I and II?
Homelessness

“We have enough homes (despite the ‘housing crisis’ but there are still people living on the literal streets. I understand how people can hit a rough patch and lose their house but how is there not better systems to house them until they get back on their feet?” – u/deleted
Tanning beds

With everything we know about tanning beds, including the increased risk of skin cancer, it makes you wonder why these are still legal. Even minors as young as 14 can even use them as long as they have their parent’s permission.
Junk mail

“I checked my mail today and hand a thick handful of it. Heavy color printed trash daily. What an environmental waste…” – u/ KatvisN3P . This also brings up the question as to why junk mail in our inbox still exists.
Social media influencers

“Can we go back to just making content for the sake of wanting to make content? I’m tired of everyone trying to ‘make it’ on these platforms just because someone else got rich off these platforms… Why does everyone want fame?” – u/deleted
