Mark Ruffalo Slams Ellen Degeneres For Friendship With George W. Bush

The two appeared to be friendly and laughing at multiple points during the game, which caused a bit of controversy among people who wondered how she was being friendly with someone with such starkly different political beliefs.

One Twitter user wrote in response to someone saying that friendships can be formed with people who have political differences, "George Bush ran a presidential election on denying gays the right to marry and Ellen, well... she’s gay."

"I'm friends with George Bush. In fact, I'm friends with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have. But just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them. When I say be kind to one another, I don’t mean only the people that think the same way that you do," she explains in the video.

Mark took to Twitter to slam Ellen's reasoning. "Sorry, until George W. Bush is brought to justice for the crimes of the Iraq War, (including American-lead torture, Iraqi deaths & displacement, and the deep scars—emotional & otherwise—inflicted on our military that served his folly), we can’t even begin to talk about kindness."

Actress Susan Sarandon shared this Tweet calling out Ellen's apology, and actor David Cross said, "It was neither, 'shut down', nor was it 'powerful'. It was weak, self-serving, dismissive and eye-opening."

Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, and Reese Witherspoon are among the celebrities that have backed Ellen's 'kindness' message.
