10+ TV Moments That Made Fans Stop Watching These Shows

Yes, these were the less than stellar moments of some of our favorite TV shows.

Unfortunately, they had to happen and even more unfortunately, sometimes they meant we'd stop watching the show.

When Michael Left Scranton In 'The Office'

NBC

This and only this was the death of The Office.

His character was the backbone of the show. Seriously though, what is The Office without Michael?

A load of poop, that's what.

When Luke And Lorelai Broke Up In 'Gilmore Girls'

IMDb

And she immediately went and slept with Christopher!

Jeez, Lorelai, you've made some pretty dodgy decisions in the past but this one is just too much for us to handle!

When Carl Died In 'The Walking Dead'

AMC

I have a feeling that even Chandler Riggs is a little salty about the death of his character, but then again so are his fans.

I mean, he was supposed to be a lot more important!

When Landry Kills Someone On 'Friday Night Lights'

NBC

And then they never addressed it! I remember this as the moment I stopped watching Friday Night Lights and I know that a bunch of fans agree with me!

Or at least when they watch it again, they skip these parts.

Any Doctor After David Tennant

BBC

A lot of people have said that it was hard to watch the show after David Tennant.

He is the quintessential doctor for a lot of people, so losing him must've been hard.

When Poussey Was Killed On 'Orange Is The New Black'

Netflix

Sure, for some this renewed new interest in the series. Some people love to watch characters die.

But for others, having their favorite character killed was too much to handle.

When Derek Died On 'Grey's Anatomy'

ABC

The show has just kind of been going downhill since Derek died. Without the Meredith/Derek dynamic (The Merek Dynamic?) the show has become a lot less interesting.

Not uninteresting enough to stop watching completely, but it did take a hit.

Or When Izzie Had Sex With Denny's Ghost

ABC

Yeah, there were really two scenes in Grey's Anatomy that made people stop watching. One is the aforementioned Derek Death, the other is this ridiculous scene.

So... she has sex with a ghost? Is this all in her mind? What's going on?

When Barney And Robin Got Divorced On 'How I Met Your Mother'

CBS

God this show is a mess, especially its last season.

There we were, pretty much following their marriage for an entire season, and then suddenly they decide they don't want to be together?

When Stabler Left 'Law And Order: SVU'

NBC

A lot of fans cite this as the moment the show went downhill. Did you know it was because they wouldn't give Christopher Meloni the money he wanted?

Greedy so and sos.

The Red Wedding

HBO

Did this shock a lot of viewers? Absolutely. Did this make a whole bunch of Stark fans leave the show? Also yes.

The whole family was practically gone at this point.

Armin Tamzarian

FOX

This is frequently cited as the episode that killed The Simpsons (despite the fact that it been on for like 20 seasons since).

It turns out that the principal we knew and loved was actually an identity thief.

When Liam Almost Overdoes On Cocaine In 'Shameless'

Giphy

Yes, I know she was going through a lot.

But it's hard to sympathize with Fiona after she was so careless. Most fans had a hard time watching after this incident.

When Betty Did The Serpent Dance In 'Riverdale'

CW

Yeah, this show is... um... this show is pretty flipping ridiculous. And this is probably one of the most ridiculous parts.

When this 16-year-old girl does a striptease in front of middle-aged men and her mom.

When Lexa Got Killed

CW

Fans of The 100 rallied in the streets when this unfortunate death happened on the show.

LGBT activists were especially upset.

When Joey Accidentally Proposed To Rachel

NBC

God, wasn't this just the worst relationship in Friends history?

Seriously, Joey and Rachel was an obvious attempt to spice things up on the show, and this moment was the worst of them all.

The Day Marissa Died

Fox

And I was singing...

Bye, bye Ms. Marissa guy. Watched the next episode of The O.C. and that was about it.

I didn't want to put more effort into my parody than the writers did with this moment.

"Not Penny's Boat"

ABC

The moment that Charlie was trapped underwater on Lost was definitely a low point for the series.

Not only was it upsetting to watch him die, but it wasn't even Penny's boat!

The Moment They Put Elena Into A Coma

CW

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't The Vampire Diaries about Elena's experience in Mystic Falls? How did they think the show was going to work if she was gone?

Here's the answer: not well.

Michael's Death

CW

There sure are a lot of deaths on this list, but this one from Jane The Virigin is one of the worst.

Some fans have a feeling that they did it just so Jane and Rafael could get back together.

When Kara and Mon-El Got Together

CW

Listen, Supergirl is supposed to be about a super-strong (both literally and on the inside) woman who don't need no man to help her (snap, snap, snap, snap).

The moment they put these two together was the moment we stopped watching.

The Moment We Learn How Jack Dies

NBC

Alright, so this guy from This Is Us manages to get through a burning house twice. Once to save some kids, another to save a dog.

And then out of nowhere he just has a heart attack and dies? What a rip!

When The Original Cast Graduated In 'Glee'

FOX

Seriously, what did they think the point of us watching would be? To see how things are going in Ohio and New York?

Yeah, no thanks, we're good. Try a spinoff next time.

The Happy Ending In 'Once Upon a Time'

ABC

Every character got a happy ending, which was a perfect ending to the series...but then they went on and did the 7th season.

Uh...what the heck was the point of that?

Olivia Being Kidnapped In 'Scandal'

ABC

Not only that she was kidnapped, but the fact that Fitz went to war to get her back.

The President would never do that. What happened to "we do not negotiate with terrorists?"

When Jim and Pam Got Together In 'The Office'

NBC

There was so much tension and suspense leading up to them getting together, and once they did a lot of fans thought the show got boring.

So there are two moments when people stopped watching The Office.

"The Coffee Cup"

HBO

This, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the only instances you'll see on this list where people stopped watching a show not because the writing was lame, but because the showrunners stopped caring.

If they don't care, why should we?

When Dean Could Talk To Dogs

CW

Yeah, this supernatural moment from Supernatural was — how do I put this? —pretty flipping ridiculous.

It turned a whole lot of people off of the show, and who could blame them?

When Luke's Daughter Came Onto The Show

IMDb

Another Gilmore Girls moment that made us stop watching. They only did it to add to the drama, which honestly seems pretty darn cheap.

It was also an excuse for Luke and Lorelai to break up, which is even cheaper.

Archie Forms The Red Circle

CW

Ah yes, back to one of the most ridiculous shows on TV.

Archie's "super tough, no really guys" act is one of the more ridiculous parts of the show, and it made us stop watching.

When Cece Was Revealed To Be Charles

Freeform

Ugh, even typing those words leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Wha... What were they thinking?

How offensive is that "twist"? Way to make your fans hate you, Pretty Little Liars writers.

When Christina Left

ABC

And finally, we end on a fan favorite from Grey's Anatomy leaving the show.

I know we've picked on Grey's a whole lot, but when you have this many seasons you're going to have a lot of bad moments.
