Bride Asks Guests To Dress According To Weight, Goes Nuts When Called-Out

Amy Pilkington 5 Oct 2019

When a friend or family member is getting married, we all want their day to be the best it can be, but there's a reason the term "bridezilla" exists. Yes, "it's her day," but there are limits to friends' patience and pocketbooks.

This story of a bride going too far starts out crazy and just keeps on going.

It starts a little over the top, but her excitement is clear.

The idea of synchronized dancing along a Hawaiian beach sounds like it could make for a fun event.

However, it becomes very clear that "fun" isn't the top priority, but rather the "incredible visual effect."

She doesn't say so, but I'm imagining many hours of rehearsal being expected.

Still, asking everyone to wear a specific color or something isn't too big a deal... right?

This dress code is way worse than a specific color request — and it's split up by WEIGHT.

My first note is that the "lighter" women are expected to spend a fortune just on their shoes. Like, I don't care how much the effect amazes me, I'd pack on some pounds just to avoid spending $800+ on footwear alone.

Also, who wears things like suede and velvet on a beach in Hawaii?!

As for the heavier folks, those outfits appear to be designed to hide you from the camera entirely.

But it doesn't stop there. That's just the dress code for the "incredible visual effect" part.

Yes, she expects her guests to shell out at least $1000 for their outfits.

Question: if I spend $800+ on those Louboutin heels, can I show up in a t-shirt and jeans to the after party?

Technically, I'll have met the requirements. And are you going to check our receipts at the door?

There's nothing like having to get past a bouncer to attend your friend's wedding.

And I'll note that all of this is expected on top of the cost of travel to Hawaii.

Of course, when a bride goes this crazy, it's going to get shared to social media.

And it's probably going to go viral.

Which is how the bride found out that someone in the wedding group shared it.

Her way of dealing with it is certainly a new one to me: a Polygraph Party.

Yes, she spent money to buy a polygraph machine and is hosting a "party" to test everyone.

Why do I read these words in a slightly-too-high pitched pleasant tone that's probably coming out of the mouth of a Stepford Wife?

She also had some choice words for internet commenters and some questionable explanations for the dress code.

If the black and camo outfits represent "the aura of the devil that we must shoo away" why is it only the heavier people expected to wear them and fade into the background?

And for all this talk about the theme being "24K" and feeling rich, nothing says cheap AF more than soda hats.

I can see that being a fixture of Homer Simpson's wedding, but even he would have the decency not to expect me to spend a month's salary just to "suitably" attend.

It's at this point that people started wondering if the whole story is an elaborate troll.

I'm torn on this, because it does seem too crazy to be true, but then, a lot of real life is actually that insane.

If you were wondering if the party was a success, then you won't be disappointed.

In what sounds like a very scientific method, STEPHANIE was identified as the snitch and has been dubbed a "former friend."

Load Comments

Oh, and there was an update to the dress code.

Reddit | popkween

You know what? Stephanie is going to have the last laugh, because now she doesn't need to spend a fortune for such a crazy event.
