Woman Arrested After Attempting to Disguise Meth Bag As Hair Bow

Sometimes you hear about police encountering criminals who are absolute masterminds, and their crimes are borderline admirable, if only for their sheer genius.

And then other times, you hear about people who think they can hide a baggie of meth in plain sight simply by fashioning it into a homemade hair bow.

We'll be talking about the latter today.

On September 24, Jessica Bernice Kropp was driving through Flippin, Arkansas.

According to the Baxter Bulletin, all was going pretty well for her until around 6:40 p.m. when the 38-year-old was pulled over by a local police cruiser.

According to Baxter Bulletin, officer Kenneth Looney had spied her Dodge Neon and noticed its registration was expired.

When he approached the vehicle and asked for the driver's license, Kropp admitted that it too was expired.

In fact, she didn't even know where the registration for the car was since it wasn't even hers — she'd borrowed it.

It didn't take long for Looney to figure out that Kropp's license had been suspended. Oh, and there were five valid warrants out for her arrest from five different counties.

Understandably, he asked her to exit the vehicle so he could put her under arrest. And that's when things got weird.

So it's really no wonder why Looney decided he needed to take Kropp in to the station.

"As I was detaining Jessica Kropp, I observed what appeared to be a bow in her hair."

Looney described the strange sight in the affidavit, explaining that the bow "appeared to be a small, zip-locked bag containing a white crystal-like substance of suspected methamphetamine."

So basically, Kropp figured there's no better place to hide drugs than in plain sight, and fashioned herself a little DIY hair bow out of her meth bag.

From a distance, perhaps the bow would be enough to fool someone. After all, you wouldn't immediately assume a woman wearing a hair bow is really sporting a baggie of meth in her hair.

But up close, the pretty pink-tied drug bow was just a little too ridiculous to believe.

According to Looney, he asked, "Are you serious?" to which Kropp innocently replied, "What?"

He pointed out the bow in her hair, which he said was very obviously a bag of meth. But Kropp insisted it wasn't even hers.

"I didn't know that was there," she said. "Someone else put that there and I didn't know what it was."

Looney asked if there were any other illegal substances in the vehicle and Kropp "begged" him not to tow the car.

He agreed, but only on the condition that she be honest with him. Kropp then revealed that she had more illegal items on her, including "multiple bags" of meth in her purse and drug paraphernalia, including a vape pen with THC oil and another with THC oil and meth.

Kropp was arrested on charges of possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended and no liability insurance. She was taken to Marion count jail where she was held on a $23,210 bond.

And to think, she never even got the chance to start her own Etsy page, "Meth Bows - By Kropp". Dream lost, I suppose.
