Greta Thunberg Has The Best Odds Of Winning The Nobel Peace Prize

After winning what is socially referred to as the 'Alternative Nobel Peace Prize', climate change activist Greta Thunberg is now officially poised to win the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize, which will be announced on October 11th.

The European betting system Ladbrokes recently revealed their stats for the likelihood of each candidate winning the Nobel this year. Thunberg is the obvious favorite, with odds of 4/6.

Other front-runners for this year's Nobel include David Attenborough, Edward Snowden, and Pope Francis.

All three of their odds are poised at 20/1, which makes any of their chances of winning statistically unlikely while up against Thunberg.

This news follows Thunberg's recent win of the 2019 Ambassador of Conscience Award.

Greta received the award, Amnesty International’s highest honor, in late September of this year.

Thunberg was recognized for her extensive activism and work in regards to reversing climate change, including her scathing and powerful speech to world leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Summit last month.

If Thunberg wins, she will be the first person to receive the Nobel for environmental work in over a decade.

The last was US Vice President Al Gore, who won the prize in 2007.

Thunberg's win would also make her the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner in history. Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai won the 2014 Nobel at the age of 17, and Thunberg is currently 16.

However, it is important to remember that these odds are not guarantees.

The Ladbrokes betting odds are simply statistical likelihoods, as none of the names of those being considered for the peace prize are ever announced prior to official winner's announcement on October 11th.
