A truck driver in Brazil became the unlikely hero for an exhausted and dehydrated armadillo looking for help on the side of a highway recently.
As the Daily Mail reported, Caio Giovani was headed out with a load of grain when he spotted the little armadillo and decided to stop.
"I could see he was not well," he told The Dodo. "It felt like he was asking for something...for some help."
"It was a bizarre moment but I believe I experienced telepathic communication with the tiny creature," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "It was as if he was asking me to help it. He needed food and water. I remembered the water valve and opened it."
As Caio stood there recording, the armadillo refreshed itself in the stream of water from Caio's truck, drinking up and taking a little bath.
After the armadillo had had its fill, Caio carried it off to a shaded spot and fed it a banana.
He says that the encounter with the thirsty armadillo left him with an "amazing and memorable feeling," and that it has "marked me positively for the rest of my life."
